POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Reporting to the Manager, Molding, the Packer Supervisor’s responsibility is to provide the leadership and co-ordination of all shop-floor functions and activities for packers to meet safety, quality, delivery and cost targets and to foster a working environment that is fair, equitable and driven to continuously improve.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:

 

  • Supervise Team Members:  resolve personnel issue and lead Performance Improvement Process and ensure conformance to Standards of Conduct, maintaining good employee relations on the shop floor through clear communication and feedback
  • Schedules, directs and monitors the work of assigned Team Members in a manner that supports exceeding daily standard production rates. Evaluates operations and adjusts work schedules when needed to maintain production needs.
  • Manage the Performance Improvement program including dealing with issues and providing timely feedback, maintaining proper notes of issues and interactions and working with HR to support good documentation and resolution of issues. Coaching and counselling Team Members as appropriate.
  • Ensures all Team Members are trained and performing in a safe and efficient manner using the appropriate PPE when applicable and providing training when appropriate.
  • Lead accident/incident investigations and submit reports in a timely manner
  • Manage the Training Program for new team members and support the maintenance of the training matrix
  • Manage vacation planning to satisfy production needs and managing and reporting absences, overtime, personnel moves and other exceptions.
  • Support and Drive Continuous Improvement: This entails identifying opportunities and driving continuous improvements projects, either leading or participating in projects, while working in partnership with peers to implement process change and physical upgrades. Create and update SOPs and related documents
  • Ensure full communication of all information to shift supervisors to ensure smooth running of Molding production by conducting daily audits, formal communication meetings and collecting data in order to submit daily production reports
  • Always comply with plant safety and HACCP, using appropriate PPE while performing various duties
  • Must follow food safety and cGMP processes and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned. In this role your direct reports include the positions of Packers and a Packer Cell Lead supporting the shift

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Educational Requirements: Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in Engineering or Business or equivalent.
  • Minimum Experience/Field: Demonstrated strong supervisory skills is an essential attribute Experience in a midsize to large manufacturing environment with fast paced made to order processes. Experience in leadership of a fast paced, high volume Lean Manufacturing environment. Knowledge injection molding manufacturing. 
  • Computer Skills: Good PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Physical Requirements: This job requires both office and plant exposure with considerable time spent on shop floor exposed to a noisy environment
  • Communication Skills: A skilled influencer with strong ability to positively impact desired behaviors. Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Additional Education/Experience/Skills: Ability to effectively coach, positively influence and support Team Members
