Pacific Coastal Airlines (PCA) is seeking a permanent full-time Business & Systems Analyst to be based in Richmond, BC. Reporting to the Director Information Technology, the Business & Systems Analyst is a permanent full-time position within the IT Department. The position supports the technology initiatives and projects set by PCA as corporate priorities. This position works closely with business leaders and stakeholders in the organization and requires a good understanding of business operations as well as technology, systems and software architecture.
Occasional travel will be required in this position as well as the ability to occasionally work varying hours in the night or on weekends and holidays as required for project implementation and scheduled in advance. In addition, this role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) through Transport Canada.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Act as a first point of contact for project support (e.g. managing access permissions to project team sites and project plans, providing the latest project status information and access to updates as related to each project, answering stakeholder questions regarding project-related information etc.)
- Develop any of the following deliverables for any given project including business and process analysis, business and technical requirements gathering, market scans, market research, financial and cost analysis, fit gap analysis, options analysis and risk analysis
- Provide project management support utilizing tools set out by PMO including creating and updating project plans, updating project status reports, documenting change orders, participating and organizing steering committee meetings and documenting project review reports
- Support implementation tasks as needed including coordinating with resources assigned to the project, working with vendor resources and technical consultants to complete project tasks, performing data transformation and preparing source data for migration into new systems, assisting with system testing and rollout of business applications, documenting user guides and new business processes, assist with testing and rollout of business applications, bridging the gap between internal resources/stakeholders and vendor resources throughout various stages of project implementation, conducting user orientation and training sessions for business stakeholders in support of systems implementation
- Solution design and development including documenting and configuring workflow, creating business process automation using Microsoft PowerAutomate and PowerApps, preparing business data for migration to new tools and manipulating business data to generate reports; report writing
- Other duties as assigned by the Director Information Technology
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience as a Business Analyst
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Technology related field from a recognized University or Community College is required
- Intermediate proficiency in Office 365/Microsoft 365 productivity applications required
- Minimum 1 year’s experience with developing business process automation solutions using Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft PowerAutomate and Microsoft PowerApps
- Experience with diagramming tools and producing swim lane; flow charts and process diagrams
- Previous experience with application development using SQL, PHP and Laravel Framework is an asset
- Project experience in planning, analysis, implementation and integration of enterprise applications
- Strong knowledge of industry IT and security best practices and trends
- Strong professional written communication skills
- Project management education an asset
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings to develop and capture business requirements and system requirements from business stakeholders; work with stakeholders to distill business processes and discover opportunities for efficiency gains
- Ability to create business diagrams to document business process and data flows
- Capable of data transformation and table data manipulation using Microsoft Excel and SQL to prep data or write data reports
- Understanding of RDBMS and relational models; normalization and concepts of Primary Key / Foreign Key
- Good understanding of testing methodologies utilized throughout various stages of systems implementation including but not limited to system testing through to UAT and production testing
- Basic understanding of systems & application integration concepts and data exchange mechanisms (API’s, Web Services, JSON, XML etc.)
- Basic understanding of workflow algorithms and programming and data parsing concepts
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to actively listen, empathize, ask questions, and respond in a way that stakeholders understand
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
