The Town has an opportunity available for the position of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst. This position supports the Town’s GIS initiatives by managing and analyzing spatial data, supporting enterprise GIS applications, and collaborating with various teams to deliver innovative geospatial solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and needs. This role focuses on maintaining and enhancing GIS-based applications, including the Town’s Citywide enterprise application. Additionally, the GIS Analyst will serve as a system and application administrator for enterprise applications, ensuring seamless integration, performance optimization, and end user support.
Job Duties:
- Developing and maintaining interactive dashboards and data visualization tools for GIS and non-GIS datasets to support decision-making, awareness, and reporting needs; designing and implementing GIS solutions that enhance decision-making and operational efficiency; supporting enterprise GIS applications and systems to ensure reliability and performance, troubleshooting as needed; and creating automation tools and workflows to optimize processes and enhance geospatial solutions.
- Administer, support, and provide backend configuration for enterprise applications, including the Town’s Citywide implementation, which encompasses enterprise asset management (EAM), work-order, planning, license, and permit management. Ensure system reliability, seamless integration with other enterprise systems, and alignment with organizational goals. Manage user roles, permissions, workflows, and system upgrades. Provide ongoing support for additional enterprise applications as they are implemented.
- Updating, maintaining, and analyzing spatial data within the GIS platform, ensuring data quality and accuracy; collaborating with staff to gather spatial data requirements and perform normalization and validation; processing and integrating datasets from diverse sources, such as mobile devices, aerial imagery, databases, and hardcopy formats; working with the team to improve and maintain open data initiatives, promoting its adoption across departments.
- Providing user support and training on GIS tools, solutions, and applications; administration and backend configuration of GIS systems, ensuring seamless integration with other enterprise applications; and collaborating on cross-functional projects to align GIS solutions with broader organizational goals.
- Maintaining documentation, including workflows, metadata, and training materials, for GIS and enterprise applications; developing user guides and providing training sessions for staff to enhance GIS tool adoption and proficiency; and supporting ad hoc GIS tasks and projects as required to meet organizational goals.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- University degree specializing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics, Geography, Urban Planning, or a related field; or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent.
- Minimum four (4) years of progressive work experience in GIS analysis, application support, and solution development.
- Demonstrated practical experience with GIS technologies, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Mobile, 3D Analyst, ArcSDE, Spatial Analyst, Model Builder, and Geocortex.
- Proven experience working with spatial databases (e.g., ArcSDE, SQL Server) and performing GIS data management, analysis, and integration.
- Experience in GIS solution design and implementation, including installation, configuration, and administration of GIS applications.
- Hands-on experience supporting and maintaining enterprise applications with GIS components, such as Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) or work order systems, ensuring seamless integration and optimization for business needs. Experience in system and application administration for enterprise applications is highly desirable.
- Experience developing GIS solutions, dashboards, web applications, or automation tools (e.g., Python scripts, FME workflows) to enhance organizational processes and improve data visualization and operational insights, and skilled in integrating GIS with applications such as Citywide, Command Center, Great Plains, and SharePoint, with a focus on ensuring seamless synchronization of GIS data components.
- Proficiency in GIS principles, spatial data governance, and geodatabase management, knowledge of GIS methods, cartography, coordinate systems, projections, and geospatial analysis techniques.
- Competency in scripting and ETL tools such as Python, FME, or ModelBuilder, and familiarity with GIS-based web technologies (e.g., JavaScript APIs, ArcGIS Web AppBuilder).
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to interpret data and provide actionable insights.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with enterprise application support, including system implementation, upgrades, and cross-system integrations for enterprise asset management (EAM) and work-order systems, as well as other related platforms.
Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, including but not limited to a Criminal Record Check, in accordance with the duties of this position.
Salary Range: $86,450.36 to $101,134.69, Band 10 on the Town’s 2025 Pay Grid, plus a comprehensive benefits package
