The Community Services Department has a part-time opportunity available for the position of Senior Program Leader. Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Recreation Programs and Events, the Senior Program Leader will assist with the preparation and delivery of recreation programs and events. This position will also provide support and ensure that Program Leaders are providing positive and safe experiences that meet the needs of the participants and the community.
Job Duties:
- Assisting the Programmer, Recreation and Events with preparing program plans as required and instructs recreation programs with a focus on safe, quality, inclusive program opportunities; Ensuring HIGH FIVE ® Principles of Healthy Child Development are incorporated into programs and be a good role model for program leaders and participants as a “Caring and engaging Adult”; Assisting senior staff with Program Leader training.
- Greeting program participants, completing program attendance, assisting with communication for program participants and/or parents/guardians; Planning and implementing innovative daily activities with a focus on safe, quality, inclusive programming to meet the needs and abilities of all participants.
- Following the health and safety policies and procedures of the Community Services Department and the Town.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Completion of secondary education.
- Minimum of one (1) year of previous experience in a recreation or similar environment
- Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED
- HIGH FIVE ® Principles of Child Development is considered an asset
- Leadership skills related to working with children.
- Ability to work co-operatively in a team environment; Customer service skills when dealing with the public.
Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, including but not limited to a Vulnerable Sector Check, in accordance with the duties of this position.
Hourly Range: $27.15 to $31.77, Band 4 on the Town’s 2025 Pay Grid
