Facility Assistant
Community Services Department

(Casual position, up to 24 hours per week)

The Town is seeking dedicated individuals for the position of Facility Assistant with the Community Services Department. This position assists with the maintenance of the Alder Street Recreation Centre and the Tony Rose Memorial Sports Centre. The successful candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, late evenings, and statutory holidays in accordance with operational needs.


Job Duties:



  • Assisting with the maintenance of the Town’s recreational facilities including cleaning, changing garbage bags, shovelling, sweeping, and mopping.

  • Assisting with ice maintenance, including installation, removal, painting, flooding, and testing; boards and shield maintenance, including repairs, replacements, and cleaning; and floor maintenance, including cleaning and painting.

  • Assisting with pool operation and maintenance.

  • Operating a variety of equipment to conduct ice, floor, pool, and facility maintenance including sweepers, scrubbers, hand tools, and power tools.

  • Assisting with daily and seasonal maintenance on Town equipment and vehicles.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:



  • Some secondary school education (completion of Grade 10 minimum).

  • Previous experience cleaning in a similar environment would be an asset.

  • Standard First Aid and CPR training would be an asset.

  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, including but not limited to a Vulnerable Sector Check in accordance with the duties of this position.




Hourly Range: $16.73 to $18.09, Band 1 on the Town’s 2024 Hourly Pay Grid (currently under review)
