Technical Analyst Student

Infrastructure Services Department

Contract dates: May 5, 2025 to August 29, 2025

 

The Town has an opportunity available for the position of Technical Analyst Student. Reporting to the Manager, Transportation and Development and receiving assignments from the Manager, IT and GIS Technologist, this position assists with planning and implementing Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions for the Division by creating and modifying geospatial data to be used in map products and GIS solutions and working with field staff on processes and data activities. The position may also be assigned other tasks over the course of employment to support special initiatives.

 

Qualifications:

  • Full-time enrollment in post-secondary studies in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related discipline with preference given to those returning to full-time post-secondary studies in the fall.
  • Strong general computer skills/knowledge.
  • Experience with ArcGIS and AutoCAD 2014 platforms.

 

Hourly Rate: $24.59 - $26.60 (2025 rate)

 

Please note:

  • To be eligible for this job, students must be enrolled in full-time post-secondary education. Preference is given to those returning to full-time post-secondary studies in the fall. Students may be asked to provide proof of enrolment.
  • All student interviews are expected to be scheduled in February 2025. We will work within the Winter 2025 reading weeks advertised by Ontario post-secondary institutions; however, please be advised that we may not be able to accommodate every school schedule. Virtual interview formats are available.
  • All Town student positions are subject to budget and grant approval, and thus may be subject to change. 
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, including but not limited to a Criminal Record Check, in accordance with the duties of this position.
