Contract dates: April 21, 2025 to August 29, 2025
The Town is seeking two Water Works Students to assist the Town’s licensed Water Works Operators with the operation and maintenance of the Town’s water supply and distribution systems. Duties of the position include assisting with maintenance and repair work on watermains, valves, hydrants, services and other appurtenances in the water distribution system; assisting with the annual valve turning program; assisting with the hydrant flushing program; assisting with traffic control and fire hydrant painting; assisting with maintenance and repair work on pumps, valves, and other equipment; assisting with monthly preventative maintenance; facility painting; assisting with cleaning and maintenance; administrative duties; and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Full-time enrollment in a post-secondary education program
- Enrollment in an Engineering, Environmental or Chemical College program would be an asset.
- Operator in Training (OIT) Licenses in Water Treatment, and Water Distribution and Supply, would be assets.
- Relevant experience would be an asset.
- Valid Driver’s Licence in good standing.
Hourly Rate: $20.40 - $22.07 (2025 rate)

- To be eligible for this job, students must be enrolled in full-time post-secondary education. Preference is given to those returning to full-time post-secondary studies in the fall. Students may be asked to provide proof of enrolment.
- All student interviews are expected to be scheduled in February 2025. We will work within the Winter 2025 reading weeks advertised by Ontario post-secondary institutions; however, please be advised that we may not be able to accommodate every school schedule. Virtual interview formats are available.
- All Town student positions are subject to budget and grant approval, and thus may be subject to change.
