Public Works Technical Student

Contract dates: May 5, 2025 to August 29, 2025
The Town has an opportunity available for the position of Public Works Technical Student. Reporting to the Manager, Public Works, this position will assist in supporting construction and maintenance contracts, including assistance with procurement, contract execustion, budget management, compiling data, and keeping accurate records. This position will also provide assistance to the Public Works Technologist and Supervisor, Operations on an as-needed basis.
Qualifications:
- Full-time enrollment in post-secondary and working towards a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field with preference given to those returning to full-time post-secondary studies in the fall.
- Experience working/volunteering in a customer service driven field.
- Experience using Microsoft Applications
- Basic knowledge of concrete and asphalt
Hourly Rate: $20.40 – $22.07 (2025 rate)

- To be eligible for this job, students must be enrolled in full-time post-secondary education. Preference is given to those returning to full-time post-secondary studies in the fall. Students may be asked to provide proof of enrolment.
- All student interviews are expected to be scheduled in February 2025. We will work within the Winter 2025 reading weeks advertised by Ontario post-secondary institutions; however, please be advised that we may not be able to accommodate every school schedule. Virtual interview formats are available.
- All Town student positions are subject to budget and grant approval, and thus may be subject to change.
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, including but not limited to a Criminal Record Check, in accordance with the duties of this position.
