The Town of Orangeville Community Services Department is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Summer Swim Instructor/Lifeguards. Duties of this position include instructing aquatic programs and performing lifeguard services; enforcing pool facility policies, procedures, rules and regulations; maintaining records pertaining to lesson plans and report cards; ensuring the pool deck area is safe for all users and that emergency first aid equipment is in its place; maintaining the deck, pool equipment and change rooms; installing buoy lines and other equipment as required; ensuring equipment is available when lifeguarding; participating in staff training; and other duties as assigned. Hours of work for this position is twenty-four (24) to thirty-five (35) hours per week depending on operational needs.
Qualifications:
- Some secondary school education
- Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard (Pool option)
- Current Lifesaving Swim Instructors
- Current Standard First Aid / CPR C or equivalent, from an accredited organization
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of age
- Lifesaving Society Instructor is considered an asset.
- Lifesaving Society Examiner at Bronze Cross level or higher is considered an asset.
- Lifesaving Emergency First Aid Instructor is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Aquatic provincial legislation and health and safety legislation.
Hourly Range: $19.64 to $22.98, Band 2 on the Town’s 2025 Pay Grid
