The Ontario Cannabis Store provides safe, responsible access to recreational cannabis for adults 19 and older. We operate the sole legal online store for recreational cannabis in Ontario and are the provincial wholesaler of cannabis for private retail stores.

About the Role
We’re looking for a skilled Project Manager to join our team! In this role, you’ll be responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the successful completion of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in scope. You will provide oversight to ensure projects align with OCS’ standard operating procedures, work closely with executive sponsors to communicate progress, and monitor/resolve RAID items.
As a Project Manager, you will lead integrated project teams made up of technical, business, and organizational change management experts. Strong communication, stakeholder management, and experience working with cross-functional teams are essential for success in this role.
About Your Day
- Facilitate the process for the Project Sponsor to define the initiative’s main objectives, benefits, and cross-functional engagement.
- Support the formal project kick-off by engaging key stakeholders to align on the scope, objectives, and governance.
- Provide leadership on the development of project requirements and solution options to gather accurate forecasts on effort/timelines.
- Develop the integrated project roadmap by defining workstreams and outlining key milestones/tasks for the project team.
- Facilitate the process for the Project Sponsor to complete any required business case/procurement documentation so the project can receive the necessary approvals on spend and execution.
- Delegate work to the workstreams to ensure tasks are completed as scheduled.
- Facilitate regular project stand-ups or touchpoints to keep collect updates on status, ensure the project is tracking to key milestones, and identify any RAID items for further action/escalation.
- Lead project steering committee meetings to manage escalations to executive sponsors and initiate the corrective actions required.
- Provide leadership in bridging delivery processes between technology and the business
- Oversee the end-to-end launch of initiatives by leading teams from deployment to change management.
- Manage vendors (if applicable) and ensure they are meeting their commitments to scope, timelines, and quality; facilitate change requests where needed.
- Manage and coordinate pilot activities
- Provide post-launch support in triaging incidents during the hypercare period
- Report on performance of the project and assist Change Management in the ongoing transition of people, process, and tool changes.
- Obtain formal acknowledgement to close the project/disband the team once the scope of the project has been delivered/hypercare period has ended.
- Lead project retrospectives to capture and reinforced lessons learned.
About You
- Completion of Post-Secondary education in Business Administration, Engineering or related area of study OR equivalent combination of experience and post-secondary education.
- 5+ years of related experience preferably in retail or regulated industries (banking, telecom, health care, public sector).
- Experience in working with technology teams and software delivery operating in Waterfall (SDLC) and Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP)
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management.
- Experience working in a shared project management environment with multiple project managers managing the same project.
- Experience establishing, building, and maintaining collaborative relationships with various stakeholders for the purpose of meeting the corporate/ program objectives.
- Experience in Consulting or a professional services environment is preferred
- Formal project management training and/or possessing a PMP, CSM, or ACP is strongly preferred
- Extensive knowledge and experience applying best practices, procedures and principles of project, program and portfolio management methodology and governance.
- Expert with PowerPoint and crafting executive communications/updates.
- Ability to use the Atlassian suite (JIRA & Confluence) for task tracking and project documentation is strongly preferred.
About the Job
- This position currently offers a hybrid work schedule. The current in office requirement is a minimum of 3 days/week (may be more depending on business needs). The OCS office is located near York Mills and Yonge Street. However, OCS reserves the right to change this policy and its office location at any time.

Compensation
The target hiring range for this position is 95,000- $105,000. This is a pay grade 7 role, with a salary range of $81,805.90- $122,284.74. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
