Position: Electrical Engineer
Location: Downtown Toronto
Objective: Manage electrical tenant and special projects across various sectors, including retail, commercial, institutional, and education, from concept design to construction, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget. Act as a key liaison throughout construction, including site visits and meetings. Provide review and stamping of drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare concept designs, load calculations, schematics, and sizing of electrical distribution equipment.
- Develop electrical systems (lighting, fire alarm, power distribution) using AutoCAD or BIM models and schematics.
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Architectural, and Structural teams to ensure project drawing accuracy.
- Review architectural and mechanical drawings for consistency with electrical systems.
- Conduct initial and final site surveys and oversee site visits during construction phases.
- Prepare contract documents, including project specifications.
- Ensure all electrical codes and standards are met where applicable.
- Review shop drawings and provide ongoing technical support throughout the project.
- Maintain project schedules and escalate resource issues to the Department Manager.
- Support business development by maintaining client relationships and assisting in securing new work.
- Evaluate shop drawing reviews
- Strive to ensure quality and timely delivery of finished products to clients
- Participate in project team design meetings both internally and externally and assist with project planning.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation required.
- 5+ years of engineering and project coordination experience within the consulting industry.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience designing electrical systems using AutoCAD or Revit.
- Experience working on multi-discipline teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels, including executives.
- Excellent time management and project management skills.
- Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
- Self-motivated, hardworking, flexible.
