The Role:
We are actively seeking a visionary engineering leader for our transportation structures team in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Our GTA team is composed of talented engineers, technicians, and EITs who collaborate closely with our divisional team across Ontario.
This role offers a unique opportunity for a dynamic professional to lead our well-established team in delivering high-impact projects, particularly with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) and surrounding municipalities, while also driving corporate expansion.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delegating tasks, facilitating problem-solving within the team, engaging in business development and project pursuits, and delivering projects as part of the project management or technical team. Additionally, this role provides the opportunity to expand and develop the team, nurturing talent and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
This position offers a hybrid work environment, requiring the successful candidate to be in the office a minimum of one day every two weeks. The candidate will be supported in the role by the Vice President and other senior leaders, all of whom have been with the firm for over 10 years, ensuring strong mentorship and guidance.
The ideal candidate will have the following background, skills, and attributes:
- 10+ years' experience as a professional engineer.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
- Extensive experience working with the MTO and/or Ontario municipal clients, either directly or as a consultant. Experience in preliminary and detail design work.
- Understands the consulting engineering environment.
- Thorough knowledge of Transportation Engineering including policies, regulations, guidelines, and operational procedures.
- Works effectively as part of a team, with clients and other relevant stakeholders.
- Strong business development skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Empathetic, accountable, adaptable, and adept at identifying issues, analyzing options, and finding effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Manager in the GTA, you will work closely with the senior leadership team and will be responsible for providing direct leadership and day-to-day management of the transportation structures team members.
Leadership
- Build and lead a high-performing technical team dedicated to advancing infrastructure solutions.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
- Actively leads and supports the team to execute strategic growth and business initiatives.
Operational Management
- Oversee the planning and execution of design projects, ensuring utilization of staff.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Provide guidance, input, and oversight in the preparation of proposals, develop full cycle proposal/project work plans.
Client Collaboration:
- Act as a primary point of contact, providing insights and recommendations to clients based on expertise.
Marketing / Business Development
- Collaborate with and oversee Bid/No Bid decisions for municipal clients within the GTA.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with industry professionals, consultants, and other business leaders.
