The Role:
On 30 November 2023, Egis joined the "Race To Zero" campaign following its commitment under the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative, recognizing the shared responsibility of companies in tackling climate change. This role aligns perfectly to our commitments, and we are proud to be expanding our service lines in North America.
We are seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Zero Carbon Initiatives Technical Lead to drive our commitment to sustainable practices and champion initiatives focused on reducing carbon emissions. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned engineer with a proven track record in technical projects related to carbon reduction in the transportation space. In addition to technical expertise, this role requires the ability to inspire and lead a dedicated team while tapping into our international technical resources to propel our zero-carbon initiatives forward.
The ideal candidate will have the following background, skills and attributes:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in technical projects related to carbon reduction.
- Strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to lead and deliver successful projects on time and within budget.
- Leadership experience in building and managing technical teams.
- The ability to effectively collaborate with global teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire and engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Passion for sustainable practices and a commitment to driving change through innovative engineering solutions.
- Ability to work in the US or Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
- Lead and contribute to the design, implementation, and optimization of zero-carbon initiatives, with a primary focus on projects related to the electrification of mass transit systems (rail, BRT, etc.).
- Stay abreast of industry advancements and emerging technologies to inform and enhance our approach to carbon reduction (i.e., Operational impact of Hydrogen as a source of energy).
Project Management:
- Oversee the planning and execution of technical projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and sustainability targets.
- Lead cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery within established timelines and budget constraints.
Team Building and Leadership:
- Build and lead a high-performing technical team dedicated to advancing our zero-carbon initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
Resource Utilization:
- Effectively tap into our international technical resources, leveraging expertise within the company to supplement and enhance local initiatives.
- Collaborate with global technical teams to streamline knowledge transfer and best practice sharing.
Champion for Zero Carbon Initiatives:
- Act as a region-wide advocate for zero-carbon initiatives, promoting awareness and understanding of sustainable practices.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to position the company as a leader in sustainable engineering solutions.
Strategic Planning:
- Contribute to the development and execution of a comprehensive strategic plan for zero-carbon initiatives, aligning technical efforts with broader organizational objectives.
