Role Overview
McElhanney’s Human Resources team is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Coordinator for an 18-month contract. Reporting to and under the direction of the Payroll & Benefits Supervisor, the Payroll & Benefits Coordinator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits for salary and hourly employees, adhering to provincial and federal legislation and company policies. This role is also responsible for responding to inquiries regarding payroll and benefits-related matters. Passionate about supporting employees, the Payroll & Benefits Coordinator handles tasks proactively, manages priorities, and excels as part of a team. The successful candidate will be based in Vancouver, BC, in a hybrid work arrangement to start, and further office requirements to be reviewed.
Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees across Canada with accuracy and timeliness
- Review and confirm time and attendance records and ensure accuracy and adherence to company policies and legal obligations
- Promptly resolve payroll issues or errors in a professional manner
- Issue Records of Employment (ROE) for terminations and leaves as required
- Assist with year-end payroll processes, including T4 preparation and distribution
- Stay updated on Canadian payroll legislative requirements and employment standards
- Act as a trusted source of information relating to payroll
- Support benefits enrollment, updates, and terminations
- Process all employment paperwork for new hires, employment changes, leaves, and terminations
- Prepare employment verification letters as per employees’ inquiry
- Flexibility to take on new projects and assignments as required
What You’ll Bring:
- Possessing or working towards a Payroll designation is an asset (e.g., PCP, PLP)
- 1–3 years’ experience in payroll and benefit administration
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain high accuracy in data entry
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
- Experience using Dayforce is preferred, or familiarity with similar payroll and HRIS systems
- Good understanding of Employment Standards and Payroll Legislation is an asset
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and professionalism

What Can We Offer You?
The salary range for this position is $48,000-$60,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
