The Opportunity

McElhanney has a new and exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our team in Edmonton, AB. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our structural engineering division, collaborating with clients, contractors, and other disciplines to deliver projects of varying sizes and complexity. Supported by our experienced local team, they will manage building projects, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction. Additionally, they will integrate with our municipal and land development divisions to enhance our reputation and drive profitability while maintaining relationships with long-standing clients in the region.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working under the direction of senior engineering staff, this position encompasses a broad range of professional engineering duties including:

  • Provide design, engineering, and site inspections for building structural and utility sector projects
  • Lead project management of multi-disciplinary projects
  • Assist with proposal preparation and business development
  • Supervise and mentor support staff 

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university. A Master’s level degree is considered an asset
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA (or eligible for registration). British Columbia registration is an asset
  • 5-10+ years of related engineering experience with strong design experience in building structures, project management and proposal writing experience. Experience in utilities is an asset
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal as well as a positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Well-honed business development and client relationship skills are strongly desired 

What’s In It For You?

Salary Range: $92,000 - $137,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
