The Opportunity

McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for experienced and motivated individuals to join our team as a Civil Engineering Technologist in Kelowna, BC. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their construction inspection and design experience by working on a wide variety of private and public engineering projects. The successful candidates will use their strong technical skills on a variety of projects. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assist in the production of engineering designs and drawings that meet all client and approval agency requirements and standards
  • Transform preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans and project informational requirements, using primarily Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed
  • Assist with the preparation of documents required for approvals, construction cost estimates, procurement and contracts.
  • Coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved
  • Conduct field reviews and assisting with contract administration as the Site Inspector for the Contract Administrator
  • Liaise with contractor, client and affected stakeholders during construction operations
  • May supervise and/or provide training and mentorship to junior technical staff

What You'll Bring

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology 
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency with MMCD contract documents and specifications and administration of MMCD construction agreements
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D Software is essential
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills (verbal & written); ability to produce accurate field notes
  • Ability to work independently and also within a busy and high-performing team

 

Nice to Have

  • MMCD certified Contract Administrator (CCA) or the ability to obtain CCA certification in the near future
  • Registration as an AScT, or other technical accreditation, is an asset

 

What Can We Offer You

The salary range for this position is $79,000 - $97,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
