The Opportunity:

 

McElhanney Ltd. is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Document Controller to join our dynamic Alternative Project Delivery team. In this hybrid role, you will be responsible for managing project documentation, ensuring that all records are accurate, accessible, and compliant with company standards. You’ll work closely with project managers and teams to track project progress and assist with document control processes to maintain smooth project workflows. This position is ideal for a proactive individual with strong attention to detail and a foundational understanding of project management principles, looking to grow their career in a supportive and collaborative environment.  

 

The successful candidate may be based in Calgary, AB or Surrey, BC.

What You’ll Be Doing: 

 

  • Follow processes and principles of company's quality management system, and any project-specific or Client requirements.
  • Assist in creation, implementation and continual improvement of project document management processes.
  • Keep records, create document logs of project details, meeting minutes, technical specifications, drawings etc - archive, control, and retrieve records as required
  • Control issuance of documents, following the project document management processes.
  • Review completeness and accuracy of documents - performing quality checks prior to submission.
  • Support the internal quality review processes as required, including auditing.
  • Follow up with design team as required on status of documents for submission.
  • Coordinate with Client document control leads to ensure an efficient workflow.
  • Provide status reports on documentation, interfacing with the Project Controls team as required.
  • Create and maintain distribution lists for project-related information; utilize those lists for distribution of project documentation during the entire project life cycle (bid through closeout).
  • Maintain Request for Information (RFIs) logs and distributing RFI responses as appropriate.
  • Assist Project Controllers with Project Status reporting and other coordination duties as assigned.

 

What You’ll Bring:

 

  • 2-5+ years of experience as a Document Controller, ideally in the Transportation/Infrastructure industry.
  • Detail-minded individual with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and timelines.
  • People-oriented with an ability to establish a high degree of credibility with staff and clients.
  • Experience using EDMS and document review tools (SharePoint, Aconex, ProCore, BlueBeam); experience configuring these tools would be considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting quality auditing and developing processes would be considered an asset.

 

What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for this position is $42,850 - $61,200 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
