The Opportunity
McElhanney Ltd. is seeking a motivated individual to join our Langley, BC office as an Environmental Technologist. The successful candidate will be an important member of our local environmental team with a focus on supporting the technical delivery aspects of environmental project work. As a trained, experienced technologist, this will likely involve a combination of field and office work, with a variety of tasks including but not limited to completing field surveys in accordance with established RISC Standards, fish, wildlife and amphibian salvages, Environmental Monitoring during construction phases, eDNA sampling, and avian ecology surveys.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Participate in the planning and execution of environmental projects and field programs (i.e., environmental monitoring, erosion and sediment control, water quality sampling, fish, wildlife and amphibian salvages, eDNA sampling, avian ecology surveys and hydroacoustic monitoring), under the supervision of a Professional.
- Support office duties, such as contributing to environmental mapping deliverables, submitting fish and wildlife capture results to provincial and federal agencies, and completing post-construction monitoring reports as required by environmental permits.
- Prepare and adhere to site-specific health and safety plans.
- Provide support to other departments (survey, geotechnical engineering, materials testing, and civil engineering) to learn about and develop a holistic approach to project execution.
What You’ll Bring
- Relevant Diploma, or University degree in Environmental Science or ecology-related field.
- While primarily based in the Lower Mainland, will have a willingness to travel and work on remote projects if and when necessary.
- High productivity, attention to detail, and an ability to work well independently and in a team environment are essential.
- Proven report writing experience, client liaison skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A valid BC driver’s license.
What’s In It For You?
The salary range for this position is $58,000 - $80,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
