The Opportunity

McElhanney is thrilled to offer an exceptional opportunity for a Junior Design Drafter to join our team in Lloydminster, AB. This position is ideal for a recent graduate eager to apply their design drafting skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This is an exciting opportunity to kickstart your career and contribute to impactful, innovative projects. The start date is set for May 2025, following the completion of your program. Candidates must be located in Lloydminster or willing to relocate.

What You’ll Be Doing

Assist in producing engineering designs, drawings, and survey plans, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards.
Work with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other drafting software (e.g., MicroStation) to develop detailed designs from preliminary sketches.
Support the dual role between engineering and survey teams, assisting with survey plan preparation and design integration.
Help prepare documentation for approvals, construction cost estimates, tender documents, and contracts to support project execution.
Collaborate with the team to keep projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality expectations.

What You’ll Bring

Degree in Diploma in Design Drafting Technology or similar course work from an accredited college or university
An understanding in drafting using AutoCAD and Civil 3D Software is essential, proficiency would be an asset but not a requirement.
Knowledge and experience with Infraworks, MicroStation, InRoads, RoadEng, Infraworks, and/or other CAD/Mapping/GIS software is also an asset.
Currently registered or qualified to register as a Technician / Technologist with ASET or similar accredited professional organization.
Attention to detail and excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Ability to work independently as well as a busy and high-performing team.

What Can We Offer You?

The hourly range for this position is $22.00 to $30.00 per hour. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
