The Opportunity

McElhanney is excited to present an opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join our electrifying Western Canada operations. Get involved in building services, roadway lighting, traffic signalization, controls, and site & land development projects opportunities – the sky’s the limit! By working closely with the electrical team and other disciplines within McElhanney, a diverse project load will prevent boredom and increase work satisfaction. We are seeking a self-starter, superior communicator who is passionate about being part of an established multidisciplinary team. 

We would prefer the successful candidate to be based out of any of our British Columbia offices. However, considerations may be made for the ideal candidate.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide engineering design and oversight for a variety of electrical projects, with a primary focus on buildings
  • Manage projects on behalf of, and as part of, the client project team
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior technical staff, including EIT’s and technologists
  • Supervise and coordinate other consultant, contractors and vendors on contract work and projects

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering
  • Experience with a variety of building types (commercial, residential, institutional and industrial) and their electrical systems (power, communications, life safety, controls, security)
  • Registration in good standing as a P.Eng in British Columbia or ability to obtain registration through existing inter-jurisdictional agreements
  • Proficiency in coordinating with clients, contractors and other disciplines

Nice to Have

  • Municipal Design (Water, Wastewater, Control Systems)
  • High Voltage (25-69kV) and utility coordination
  • Transportation (Street lighting, traffic signals, etc)

What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for this position is $92,000 - $137,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
