The Opportunity

 

McElhanney Ltd. has a new opportunity for an Intermediate Structural Engineer to enhance our growing team in Kelowna, BC. Reporting directly to our Division Manager, you will collaborate with local and regional teams to deliver a variety of structural engineering pursuits to well-established clients including local governments, provincial ministries and agencies, and crown corporations. What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing design, engineering, and site inspections for structural projects
  • Lead Project management of multi-disciplinary projects, including managing structural assignments locally
  • Assisting with proposal preparation and business development
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff

What You'll Bring

  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution with 10+ years of experience in structural design 
  • Registration in good standing as a P.Eng. in any Canadian province or territory
  • Proven delivery of structural projects (design, drafting, and inspection) for public and private clients, experience in multi-family, multi-story, residential design would be an asset
  • Knowledge & experience with National and Provincial Building Codes including those for steel (CAN/CSA S16), concrete (CAN/CSA A23.3), masonry (CAN/CSA S304.1), and wood (CAN/CSA 086)
  • Proficiency with structural engineering software, such as RISA or SAP2000
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal as well as a positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Strong people skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse range of individuals

 

What Can We Offer You?

 

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
