The Opportunity
McElhanney Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Electrical and Controls Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate on a diverse number of projects across all sectors such as land development, water / wastewater treatment, municipal, industrial, renewable energy, and data centers. Your primary responsibilities will be to assist in the electrical and controls engineering design, including power distribution, power system studies, life safety and fire alarm systems, building and site lighting, streetlighting and traffic signals, control / automation systems, and onsite commissioning. You'll work alongside a supportive team of experienced engineers and technicians, with opportunities to grow your technical competencies as well as skills in leadership, project management, and business development.

What You'll Do
- Prepare detailed electrical and control engineering designs, drawings, specifications and /or study reports for various projects.
- Availability to travel to client site for commissioning support services.
- Training and guiding junior engineers and technical staff to assist in the design and drafting work.
- Support your manager and other PMs with:
- business development pursuits and proposal opportunities.
- project progress reporting including budget updates and invoice generation for clients.
- multidisciplinary team coordination and management.
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with at a minium of 2-4 years of experience in electrical and controls design .
- Registration in good standing as a P.Eng. in Alberta, or eligibility to be registered.
- Demonstration of industrial / utility protection and relay systems knowledge.
- Working knowledge of the CEC, NBC, NFPA and applicable codes and standards.
- Understanding of the unpredictable demands of consultant work and the ability to be flexible to manage multiple and/or changing priorities.
- High productivity, attention to detail, and an ability to work well as a team player.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit considered an asset, as well as protection systems and lighting design software such as eTap and Visual respectively.
What Can We Offer You?
The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $87,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
