The Opportunity:
McElhanney Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our Vancouver team as a Geospatial (Senior Laser Scanning)/CADD Technologist with a focus on laser scanning and other high-definition surveys. This is a great opportunity for a dedicated individual who is looking to gain hands on experience with a multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a team of HDS technicians and 3D modelers on a variety of topographic, scan-to-BIM, and non-standard surveys.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Develop and prepare engineering as built information and drawings from field and survey data, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data
- Supervise and train other technologists, technicians and drafters.
- Develop and prepare as built sketches from point cloud - Learning new software/processes and creating other advanced deliverables from point clouds
- Write technical reports
- Assess construction specifications
- Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data and as built data
- Liaising with Project Managers regarding enquiries and issues
- Create building information models (BIM), using computer software, to provide digital representations of physical and functional aspects of buildings and other engineering projects
- Operate computer-assisted design (CAD) and drafting workstations as it relates to Laser Scanning and extracting CAD linework and creating 3D model deliverables from point clouds
- Conducting and leading laser scan surveys in the field, including setting control with total station and GPS
- Registering raw scans, processing conventional field survey data
- Time will be split between the field and office and will require some travel outside of Greater Vancouver
What You’ll Bring
- Degree or technical diploma in Geomatics / Geospatial / Remote Sensing/ Other Engineering related fields with at least 2 years of progressive experience in a survey tech role or equivalent experience
- At least 2 years experience conducting both the field and office aspects of laser scan surveys
- AutoCAD certification
- Experience manipulating and producing deliverables from point clouds
- Strong technical understanding and an ability to learn and adapt to new software and workflows
- Strong communication and leadership skills, ability to take initiative and exercise good judgment
- Experience with MicroStation an asset
- Experience with Civil3D is an asset
- Transport Canada RPAS certification is an asset
Pay Range: $32 - $36/hr. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

Additional Information:
- Location of Work: 200-858 Beatty Street, Vancouver BC V6B 1C1, locations outside the Greater Vancouver Area and McElhanney client sites across BC, field work required
- Monday to Friday:37.5 to 40 hours per week, Mondays-Fridays and some evenings or weekends
