We’re looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join MCAN’s Residential Lending team.

Job Summary:

The Senior Financial Analyst will work under the direction of the Director, Strategic Operational Initiatives and is responsible for extracting actionable insights from diverse datasets to inform strategic decision-making within MCAN.

 

What you will be responsible for:

  • Collecting, processing, and analyzing structured and unstructured data, translating findings into comprehensible reports, and contributing to data-driven initiatives.
  • Developing, testing, validating, and maintaining financial models and sensitivity analysis based on MCAN’s strategic direction and the external environment.
  • Create and maintain a robust financial model for strategic planning, including product line profitability analysis.
  • Prepare sensitivity analyses and scenario modelling as well as related charts and graphs.
  • Provide data-driven insights to COO and Director, Strategic Operational Initiatives related to strategic initiatives including new lines of business, acquisitions, reorganizations/restructuring.
  • Prepare financial information for the COO and Director, Strategic Operational Initiatives to assist in the development of long-term corporate initiatives.
  • Support Director, Strategic Operational Initiatives with obtaining project approval, gathering requirements, and testing and validation for ongoing corporate initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of changes by assisting in the development of training materials, conducting training sessions, and helping manage the transition to new processes or systems.

The work experience, skills, education that you bring to the role:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, or economics.
  • Certification such as CPA, CFA, or MBA is an asset
  • 4+ years of experience in Financial Analysis with preferably 1-2 years in the mortgage industry.
  • Experience in financial analysis, preferably in a senior or lead role.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and principles, and financial statement preparation.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis, data visualization, SQL and programming languages. Experience with Power BI is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills along with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey findings to non-technical stakeholders.
