Job Description:
Reporting to the Store Operator/Pharmacy Manager, and under the supervision of a pharmacist, this role is responsible for performing specific dispensing functions as outlined by provincial regulations and standards of practice.
- 8 to 12 hours per week.
- The store is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- There is also the potential for more hours during school breaks and part-time opportunities during the school year (flexible based on schedule).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The pharmacy student must be always under the supervision of a pharmacist. All dispensing functions performed by a pharmacy student must be carried out following provincial regulations and standards of practice.
- Filling, preparing and labelling prescription refills.
- Billing and adjudication.
- Compounding.
- Medication change management for compliance packaging for care home customers.
- Preparing care home orders for delivery.
- Communication with nursing staff at care homes.
- Assisting the pharmacist in their daily tasks.
- Locate the medication, select the prescription container, and count/pour the medication.
- Ensure that the original container, prescription container contents, and label are checked and initialled by the pharmacist.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Currently enrolled in the PharmD program at any level.
- Previous Retail Pharmacy experience is an asset.
- Kroll experience is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and have experience multi-tasking.
- Professional attitude and ability to communicate well with customers and co-workers.
- Due to this position’s sensitive nature, the successful candidate must complete a Criminal Record Check.

- 4-hour shift
- 8-hour shift
- Day shift
- Morning shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
