Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Workplace Benefits & HR Projects the HR Project Advisor will be accountable for guiding and supporting project teams to ensure the successful execution of initiatives. This role provides expertise in project planning, execution, risk management, and governance, while serving as a trusted consultant to the HR team and stakeholders. The HR Project Advisor plays a critical role in ensuring projects align with organizational objectives, meet deadlines, and adhere to established standards and best practices.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide expert advice on project planning, execution, and monitoring to ensure alignment with organizational goals
- Assist project teams in developing clear scopes, objectives, and deliverables
- Review project plans to identify potential risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and promote adherence to governance frameworks
- Serve as a resource for HR project teams, offering solutions for complex challenges and roadblocks
- Ensure projects comply with organizational governance policies, processes, and standards
- Facilitate the adoption of best practices in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)
- Monitor compliance with risk management protocols, addressing gaps proactively
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
- Analyze project performance metrics and provide actionable insights to stakeholders
- Evaluate project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure alignment with approved plans
- Prepare and deliver regular progress reports to leadership, highlighting risks, opportunities, and recommendations
- Act as a liaison between project teams and senior management, providing clarity and support as needed
- Collect data across HR teams to feed into project portfolio dashboard and other reporting, as needed
- Identify opportunities to enhance project management processes and tools
- Provide training and mentorship to project managers and team members on best practices
- Stay updated on industry trends and integrate innovative approaches into project advisory services
- Develop project tools and resources, along with appropriate training materials to be leveraged across the HR team
- Create and facilitate presentations for team training purposes to develop acumen across groups
What you bring to the role:
- Minimum 3 years experience in project management or advisory roles
- At least 2 year experience working in Human Resources is an asset
- Completion of an undergraduate degree or diploma program (majoring in Project Management, Human Resources, or related field) is required
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation preferred
- Experience with Lean methodology is an asset
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Proven computer application knowledge (MS Office suite) with advanced understanding of Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, advanced filters) and PowerPoint
- Experience dealing with highly sensitive information handled within HR (personal information (PI), and personal health information (PHI)
- Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills for large and small audiences as required to deliver services
- Ability to work collaboratively with varied teams to deliver solutions Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Effective verbal and written communications
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability required
- Exceptional organizational skills with an ability to prioritize tasks and effectively manage one’s time in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
