Purpose of the Role:

 

The Sr. Financial Analyst Business & Consumer Markets provides business partnership and revenue support to B2B and B2C business within LifeLabs Core and new businesses. Using analytics and financial modelling to advise, this position provides the business with the data to identify opportunities to maximize both the top-line growth and bottom-line margins for existing and new sources of funding / revenue within the delegated business segments. This position will help to support LifeLabs team strategy as well as provide information to improve business performance, to drive optimal pricing for RFP bids and support launch of new lines of business.  This position is responsible for completing monthly business unit performance reviews to monitor performance, the annual budget and forecast process updates, the 5-year plan and any financial modelling / business cases required to support current and future impacts of opportunities for the delegated business segments.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

Monthly Business Unit Performance Reviews:

  • Working closely with Business & Consumer Markets team, establish a working partnership and framework to analyze and communicate results of the BCM Line of business on a monthly basis. This framework will include variance analysis and performance monitoring, visual dashboards to measure in-process metrics as well as progress / tracking on the achievement of any segment specific initiatives. Working with business partners to identify business risks & opportunities and develop risk mitigation recommendations. Lead financial results communications to respective business partners

Annual Budget, Forecast Updates and 5-year Plan Development:

  • Lead the processes specific to the Business & Consumer Market Line of businesses to develop the annual budget, corresponding “year to go” forecast updates (at least 3X per year) and the annual 5-year financial plan for Life Labs. Support business with development of strategies and ensure accuracy of financials assumptions throughout the development of the budget / forecast
  • Ensure alignment of plans across all delegated stakeholder groups, meaning Commercial and Operations

Analytics and Business Partnerships: 

  • Develop analytical frameworks and tools to assist Business & Consumer Market Line of businesses in making data-driven decisions, including pricing activities, new business ventures, new product lines, margin analysis, low-volume/margin test rationalization, product divestitures, capital investments, RFP activities for customers, contract negotiations and more broadly any other innovations, strategic initiatives and ad hoc analysis as required to enable business decisions. Leverage tools to enable business case development and documentation, inclusive of both capital requirements and investment returns / payback
  • Ability to perform ad-hoc projects in support of the Manager Finance Business & Consumer Markets

 

What you will bring to the role:

  • University Degree
  • Accounting Designation, CPA and / or MBA (or working towards one of these designations)
  • 3-5 years' experience
  • Strong analytical and business planning skills in order to solve problems and research and escalate issues, when necessary
  • Experience working in an environment with a strong operational and regulatory focus (i.e. manufacturing, pharma and Retail/CPG industry), is an asset
  • Experience in supporting business development opportunity including development of financial model for new line of businesses and pricing analysis.
  • Good understanding of finance processes and data requirements
  • Developing management presentation capabilities
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle, Oracle Cloud, Power Bi, EPM application suites preferred)
  • Strong computer and reporting skills with an advanced proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manipulate data to drive insights into explaining business trends and variances
  • Good collaborator, ability to work across multiple levels of the organization 
  • Good ability to develop and maintain effective relationships
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written, with ability to work with a variety of people in a team environment
  • Solid organizational and time management skills in order to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines
  • Ability to show resilience and agility
  • Ability to aggregate information from multiple sources to build out a financial model
