Purpose of the Role

 

FP&A Manger, Revenue:  Business & Consumer Markets provides strategic business partnership support to B2G, B2B and B2C business within LifeLabs. This includes Hospital Contracts, Private Pay, Genetics, Wellness, Mobile services, and all market expansion opportunities.  Using analytics and financial modelling to influence and advise, this position provides the business with the data and intelligence to identify opportunities to maximize both the top-line growth and bottom-line margins for existing and new sources of funding / revenue supporting contract renewals and new direct to consumer initiatives.

 

This position will help to drive improved business performance and optimal pricing for the RFP contracting processes. This position is responsible to ensure completion of monthly business unit financial reviews, annual budget and forecast process updates, strategic planning and any financial modelling / business cases required to support current and future impacts of opportunities for the delegated business segments. This position will supervise Senior Financial Analysts.

  • Strategic Partnership: Provide strategic business partnership support to delegated business segments
  • Analytics & Financial Modeling: Utilize analytics and financial modeling to influence and advise the business, providing data and intelligence to identify opportunities for maximizing top-line growth and bottom-line margins for existing and new funding/revenue sources
  • Business Unit Relationships: Support LifeLabs' direct to consumer relationships and national account strategy and provide recommendations to drive improved business performance and optimal pricing for RFP customer contracting processes
  • Performance Monitoring: Complete monthly financial business unit reviews to monitor performance, including oversight of the month-end framework, variance analysis, and performance monitoring
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Oversee the annual budget and forecast process updates, strategic planning, and any financial modeling/business cases required to support current and future opportunities for the delegated business segments
  • Team Supervision: Supervise Financial Analysts as required, providing mentorship and support to ensure team goals and objectives are met

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monthly Business Unit Performance Reviews: Working in conjunction with consumer, business and non capped government portfolios to establish a working partnership and framework to analyze and communicate results of the delegated business units on a monthly basis. Responsible for oversight of the month-end framework including traditional variance analysis, performance monitoring, visual dashboards to measure in-process metrics as well as progress / tracking on the achievement and course corrections of any segment initiatives. Responsible to proactively work with business partners to identify business risks & opportunities and develop risk mitigation recommendations. Lead all financial results communications to senior management
  • Annual Budget, Forecast Updates, and 5-Year Plan Development: Lead the processes specific to consumer, business and non capped government portfolios to develop the annual budget, corresponding “year to go” forecast updates (at least 8) and the long range financial planning. Support business with development of long term business strategies through understanding of external and internal environment, buildout of assumptions based on internal and market data. Ensure accuracy and validity of financial and business assumptions. Ensure alignment of plans across all stakeholder groups, meaning Commercial and Operations. Lead forecast reviews with BCM Leadership team, Director of Revenue & VP Commercial Finance/CFO
  • Analytics and Business Partnerships: Develop analytical frameworks and tools to assist the delegated segments in making data-driven decisions. This includes pricing activities, new business ventures, new product lines, margin analysis, low-volume/margin test rationalization, product divestitures, capital investments, RFP activities for customers, contract negotiations, and other strategic initiatives. Leverage tools to enable business case development and documentation, including capital requirements and investment returns/payback
  • Identify, develop and implement opportunities to consolidate, standardize and automate processes within the team to deliver more efficient and effective processes and improved performance
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Perform ad hoc projects in support of the Commercial senior leaders, Head of Commercial Finance and Director FP&A Revenue

 

What you bring to the role:

  • University Degree with a designation in Accounting, CPA and/ or MBA
  • 7-10 years experience
  • Experience working in an environment with a strong operational and regulatory focus (i.e. manufacturing, pharma), is an asset
  • 2-3 years people leadership experience
  • Ability to decipher a contract and convert this to a dynamic financial model
  • Strong analytical and business planning skills in order to solve problems and research and escalate issues, when necessary
  • Good understanding of finance processes and data requirements
  • Strong management presentation capabilities 
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle, Oracle Cloud, SAP, EPM application suites preferred)
  • Experience working with reporting and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
  • Strong computer and reporting skills with an advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Word
