Purpose of the Role
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Senior Business Data Analyst to join our Performance Management team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving data-informed decision-making and supporting the design, development, analysis, and reporting of key metrics related to Business Government Performance and Government Contracts. You will provide advanced analytics and meaningful insights to complement team expertise, enabling informed strategic business decisions.
Key responsibilities include the creation and development of analytical products, such as creating self-service Power BI dashboards, dynamic reporting on government market trends, and KPI tracking related to Government Contracts, ensuring compliance with government reporting standards. The individual with collaborate cross-functionally with business partners including and not limited to IT, Finance, and Decision Sciences. The Senior Business Data Analyst will leverage internal and external data using Advanced Excel and POWER BI to build complex models and focus on transforming data into valuable insights, particularly in the context of Government Market Share Performance and Government Contract KPI Reporting, to promote effective performance management. This role requires a blend of technical proficiency in reporting build, with experience in transforming data for data visualization along with the ability to align analytics with business strategies, complying with regulatory reporting requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
Market Share Reporting and Insights, Government KPI Measurement and Reporting Compliance
- Leads the development of analytics and reporting capabilities, including required documentation and governance to strengthen analytical and business objectives in a time sensitive manner
- Analyzes and understands business requirements in the context of desired reporting and dashboard development, and report building. Support with creation and maintenance of documentation as required
- Update and enhance existing data models that includes data from a variety of sources to build interactive dashboards and reports, including using visualizations for reports and scorecards using POWER BI/ Excel
- Design and develop comprehensive Power BI reports, self-serve related market share and insights dashboards that monitor and track the impact of business decisions
- Develop and maintain time sensitive Government KPI reporting and compliance in alignment with contractual obligations, creating triggers and alerts to identify risks to action and report timely
- Standardizes, automates and maintain existing and new reports, including government contract KPI reports and scorecards
- Use data and insights to facilitate effective dynamic performance management for Govt related market share, identifying trends, areas for opportunities as well for protect and growth strategies
- Ensure data governance requirements in response to change processes by maintaining compliance with KPI reporting and internal standards, regulatory requirements, and government policies on existing and new government contracts
- Collaborate cross functionally with Data Management, IT and Decision Sciences for the extraction, cleansing, and analysis of complex information from a variety of databases to independently generate reports and dashboard creation
- Monitor contract reporting obligations, facilitate the extension, close-out, or renewal of contracts; ensure all contract details align with provincial guidelines, as well as cooperate guidelines, policies, objectives, and goals
- Manages and creates new documentation as required, while strictly adhering to legal and compliance guidelines, regarding access and exposure to sensitive and confidential information
Data Governance and Change Management
- Lead data governance initiatives by interpreting, reviewing, assessing essential data processes required to support decision-making for the business
- Facilitate and lead the implementation and execution of data governance processes to ensure data across all reporting are gathered, standardized, streamlined, and processed according to internal standards
- Provide data governance support cross-functionally with other teams to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency in the data
- Lead change management initiatives after the delivery of analytical dashboards to help the business adopt, embed, and fully maximize the use of data in every day decision making
Building Relationship and Collaboration
- Design and collaborate with team managers to support insights for market share strategies and performance management
- Collaborate with IT and Decision Sciences to initiate process improvements, change process and create efficiencies as it relates to the execution of daily functions
- Work cross functionally with Government Market Share, Finance, Decision Science, IT, Data Mgmt. etc. to align business processes with contract obligations and compliance standards
- Monitor operational changes to ensure contract obligations and compliance with government programs are consistently met
- Support business growth opportunities by assessing new government programs, policies, and funding initiatives
What you bring to the role:
- A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in utilizing advanced data reporting, data analysis and visualization tools (Power BI, Power Query, Data Model,), Advanced MS Excel, SSRS, MS SQL
- University degree. Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, or a related field. Master's degree an asset
- Advanced knowledge and experience using Power BI. Able to create POWER BI Dashboards and Advanced Excel Reporting
- Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, Visio) with demonstrated ability in preparing presentations
- Strong analytical and communication; to not only manipulate but also derive and communicate clear and meaningful interpretations evidenced from data
- Experienced in SQL, Python, DAX, M Query and using PowerBI to create new datasets, composite models in POWER BI and MS SQL based on unique joins required to report or answer specific questions for the business
- Capability to liaise with all levels across the enterprise on projects and ad-hoc requests
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex data to non-technical audiences
- Financial acumen is preferable
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and seek assistance/guidance if necessary
- Ability to take initiative, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to learn quickly and high-level of adaptability
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience in the healthcare industry is an asset
- Experience working with government and/or in a regulatory environment is an asset
