A DAY AS A SPECIALIZED COUNSELLOR
Reporting to the camp coordination team, the specialized counsellor will plan and lead specialized activities adapted to the age of the children. They will participate in all aspects of camp, in addition to establishing and maintaining positive relationships with children, parents/guardians, and the camp team
In this position, you will be responsible for:
- Planning and leading fun camp activities in collaboration with your co-counsellor;
- Developing the creativity and skills of the various groups partcipating in the activities;
- Ensuring that children are adequately supervised at all times and that the camp is always safe and clean;
- Communicating regularly with parents/guardians to develop and maintain a positive relationship with them and the children;
- Participating in preparatory meetings and trainings required for the camp inclusing weekly camp meetings and welcome phone calls.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Be over 18 years old.
- Have a good command of French and English.
- Have experience working with children and youth.
- Be in the process of obtaining a university or college degree in a related field (dance, arts education, music, education, fine arts, etc.)
- Currently studying or have studied at Concordia University (an asset)
KEY SKILLS
- Be able to develop interesting and innovative programming, highlighting the values of the YMCA;
- Be able to support the growth of campers in activities;
- Participate in teamwork and ensure a good work atmosphere;
- Be responsible and adhere to YMCA ethical standards;
- Take initiative and demonstrate leadership;

FOR YOUR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH, THE YMCA DAY CAMPS OFFER:
- A pleasant work environment at YMCA Saint-Roch.
- An hourly wage of $ 17,25
- Fees for first aid, CPR and rescue training (if you’re not already certified), as training is a prerequisite for the position. Please note, however, that training time is unpaid.
- Variable working hours: Monday to Friday, mornings and late afternoons – 25 to 40 hours a week as needed.
- Meetings and training to guide and support you: May 4 (signature of contract) and evenings and weekends during the month of June.
Duration of employment: From June 23 to August 22, 2025* * Some camps may end earlier
