A DAY AS A MENTAL HEALTH AND WORKPLACE ACCOMMODATION COORDINATOR
The Wellness Coordinator is available at all times to support staff mental wellness and plays an active role in helping staff create action plans for their employees in need and/or for themselves. The incumbent helps plan and run training sessions for staff regarding behavioural interventions and mental health support for campers and participates throughout the summer in interventions related to interpersonal relationships, the staff’s work-related mental health issues, and the adaptation of tasks and the work environment to specific needs (e.g. autism, anxiety, ADT, etc.). They will be on the lookout for resources outside the camp to continue creating a stable environment where staff and campers can work on their mental wellness, and will help management staff make the work environment as accessible as possible. They will also participate in all camp events and management tasks as a member of the management team.
In this position, you will be responsible for:
- Adhering to the ACQ health policies as outlined in the ACQ health guide;
- Ensuring that the mental health needs of campers and staff are met;
- Properly documenting all treatments provided and doing the necessary follow-up ;
- Providing tools to help staff support campers with mental or emotional wellness needs;
- Relaying relevant information on the health and safety of campers and staff to the management team and the camp director;
- Making decisions in consultation with the management team to return campers home for mental health reasons;
- Making decisions to adapt employees’ work environment in consultation with the management team;
- Acting as a consultant when the contract of an employee with mental health needs is terminated;
- Providing appropriate wellness training to campers and staff;
- Performing all other assigned tasks.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Have professional experience or training in mental health, mental health first aid and/or one or more related fields.
- Have a valid first aid/CPR certificate.
- Have experience working with young people or in a camp setting (an asset).
- Strong oral and written English language skills and the ability to communicate in French.
- No legal impediment to employment

FOR YOUR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH, THE YMCA DAY CAMPS OFFER:
- Choice of where you want to work: This position requires collaboration with all of our YMCA camp sites, both online and face-to-face.
- An hourly wage starting at $ 23.50.
- Fees for first aid, CPR and rescue training (if you’re not already certified), as training is a prerequisite for the position. Please note, however, that training time is unpaid.
- Meetings and training to guide and support you: Preparatory meetings from February to May (60 hrs.), training from March to April (96 hrs.), field training, evenings and weekends in June .
Duration of employment: March 2025 to August 22, 2025* * With a few hours of work on administration and closing out files expected the following week
