Manager of Youth Hub Programs
360°kids is a vitally important community agency serving all of York Region. The Manager of Youth Hub Programs oversees the daily operations and strategic direction at the Richmond Hill Youth Hub including Connections emergency housing and Home Base Drop in center. The manager will create a safe, empowering and supportive space for both staff and youth. Duties include leading a diverse staff team, financial management of the Connections and Home Base budgets, maintaining positive relationships with the funders and partners, developing and maintaining program policies, proposal writing and assistance in funding procurement. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to create a compassionate and responsive environment that promotes the well-being and self-sufficiency of the youth participants.
Key Responsibilities :
- Ensures the successful implementation of the mission, strategic direction, goals, and operating principles for Connections Emergency Housing and the Home Base Drop-In Center, aligning operations and programs with the approved Strategic Plan of 360°kids.
- Develops, leads, and executes approved strategies and plans to achieve the program’s goals and objectives effectively.
- Responsible for developing and managing all aspects of program delivery, including day-to-day operations and ensuring the quality and effectiveness of all operational components.
- Collaborates with diverse stakeholders to create and foster effective partnerships.
- Collaborates with the Management Team to ensure seamless communication and integration of all programs at the Community Hub.
- Serves as the liaison for contractors, vendors, and donors (including HYI staff and security specialists), making decisions on required services and ensuring smooth coordination.
- Ensures that programs and activities adhere to internal plans, relevant standards, and legal requirements.
- In the event of a crisis or critical incident, exercises sound judgment and initiative in managing communication with the Senior Manager of Housing Programs, relevant Ministries, governing bodies, and other key stakeholders.
- Develop and implement protocols for addressing challenging situations or disruptive behaviors.
- Oversees regular audits of program operations, services, and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Oversees the health and safety of clients and staff, ensuring the shelter environment is clean, secure, and welcoming.
- Develops safety plans for emergencies such as fire drills, evacuations, and other incidents. Ensures access to essential services such as food, clothing, and hygiene.
- Leads and manages a diverse staff team by overseeing recruitment, selection, training, development, and retention efforts to ensure the program is staffed with skilled, experienced, and effective professionals, thereby supporting the ongoing success and growth of the program.
- Ensures program staff adhere to established policies and procedures, and that all staff complete required documentation and reporting in a timely and accurate manner.
- Participates in the 360°kids’ on-call rotation to provide support for staff and program operations .
- Keeps the Senior Manager of Housing Programs informed about the financial needs required to deliver the program, monitors the program’s financial performance, and assists in the development and implementation of action plans. Provides support for fundraising efforts as needed to enhance financial sustainability.
- Responsible for cultivating and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders in the Youth Hub, including HYI and the Region of York.
- Coordinate referral systems to ensure clients have access to additional services, such as mental health care, addiction treatment, and housing assistance.
- Oversees the preparation of and submits reports and related information as required to the Senior Manager of Housing Programs, COO, CEO, Board of Directors, relevant organizations, and regulatory agencies.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education &Skills Required :
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work or Child/youth related field (e.g., Child and Youth, Social
Service Worker, Social Worker, Psychology, Sociology) or the equivalent combination of education and
experience working with youth.
- Minimum of 5 years management experience working in the not-for-profit sector.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification an asset. Current Broad Sector Check (criminal background check).
- Leadership skills, including motivation, delegation, coaching/mentoring and empowerment and the ability to motivate staff.
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge of working with youth, including understanding of the regulatory
environment (e.g., CYFSA).
- Demonstrated knowledge of human resources law, including relevant regulations, policies, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, facilitation skills and interpersonal skills including superior presentation and public speaking skills.
- Experience in developing funding proposals and managing accountability to funders.
- Relationship building and management skills, to support relationships with peers, staff, partners and ministry officials and other stakeholders.
- Broad knowledge of community resources, including trends and gaps.
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills, finance and budgeting experience.
- Demonstrated experience with MS Office with the ability to prepare and write reports/records and maintain same. Ability to effectively perform job duties with minimum supervision.
- Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic, complex environment and organize time and workload effectively with demonstrated problem-solving ability
