360°kids is a vitally important community agency serving all of York Region. We have been a leader in the delivery of innovative support services for more than 35 years as we work to improve the lives of unhoused and marginalized youth and families in York Region. At 360°kids, we provide a unique continuum of care approach with programs and services that are essential to the health and well-being of youth. These proven strategies help to keep youth safe by providing stable housing options with 360° wraparound supports.

360°kids’ Gang Prevention Team L.E.G.I.T. (Leadership Engagement Gang Intervention Team) are focused on working with youth aged 12-20 who are at-risk or involved in gang activity or criminogenic behavior. As part of the LEGIT Team, Child & Youth worker will deliver large and small group presentations to youth, and school staff; facilitate workshops; engage youth in 360°kids existing wraparound support services and mentorship opportunities. The Program Facilitator will be predominantly deployed in targeted areas/schools across the Region of York.

 Specific accountabilities include:

  • Develop and facilitation of appropriate program materials for at-risk youth.
  • Co-ordinate presentation materials and monitor its effectiveness and delivery model.
  • Use client feedback to develop new workshops.
  • Act as a positive role model, mentor, and support for youth as they learn new skills

  • Outreach to schools and community partners to build a positive referral base.
  • Utilize social media to advertise the program and increase referrals.
  • Work towards meeting targets outlined by the program.
  • Assist youth in accessing various community programs.
  • Update and maintain records/activities and case notes.
  • Work with program and 360°kids’ staff to ensure program success while positively contributing to 360°kids as an organization.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Education and skills and Abilities  required :

  • Post-Secondary degree/diploma Child/youth related field (e.g. Child and Youth, Social Service Worker, Social Worker, Psychology, Sociology) or the equivalent combination of education and experience working with youth.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working with “at-risk” or street involved youth.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification an asset.
  • Current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check).
  • Valid driver’s license at least 3 years driving experience and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of working with youth, including understanding of the regulatory environment (e.g. CFSA).
  • Demonstrated client focused counselling skills and role modelling.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to be adaptable with a flexible approach taking into consideration the unique qualities of each client.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills that promote positive team building, negotiation, and conflict resolution. Will possess a broad knowledge of community resources and the ability to strongly advocate for clients and professional referrals.
  • Regular shift work, Monday to Friday, flexibility to work occasional evenings and/or weekends. Job duties take place in a community HUB setting.
  • Possibility of working in public locations such as coffee shops, schools, community centers as well.
  • Regular travel to various locations to support client needs. Transport of clients as the need arises, so maintenance of adequate liability coverage at all times on personal vehicle is required.
