Transaction Structuring works with IO partners to assist in the evaluation of projects, assess suitability for delivery methodologies, and plan and implement alternative financing models for IO's Capital Program. In addition to transaction structuring, they provide financial advisory services and analysis on finance related provisions such as payment mechanisms, compensation on termination and payment structure. 
The Legal Services Department plays a critical role in our organization by providing comprehensive legal support across various domains. Comprising Corporate Legal, Transaction Legal, and Real Estate Legal divisions, this department ensures legal compliance, safeguards the organization's interests, and facilitates smooth project delivery. 

Position Purpose

To provide advice, direction and guidance and recommendations regarding the interpretation and application of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) privacy and principles. Support the processing, coordination, and administration of FIPPA in addressing issues and ensuring  compliance with FIPPA and IO corporate policies. Contribute to the  implementation of best practices, continuous improvement initiatives, and process efficiencies related to FIPPA compliance, including the development and execution of compliance framework. Also  handle complex and sensitive FOI requests and assist in updating existing processes to utilize technology solutions.

What You Will Do

  • Complete full lifecycle processing activities related to FIPPA requests, including intake, consultations, issuance of fees, analysis of records, application of exemptions, and briefing for approvals.
  • Assist in appeal activity, in consultation with the FOI Coordinator and Legal Counsel, including research to support appeal activity, representing IO in mediations, and drafting written representations.
  • Liaise with the Information and Privacy Commissioner regarding appeal.
  • Assist FOI Coordinator in implementing and conducting policy/program reviews and FIPPA practices and processes reflect best practices.
  • Collaborate with the FOI Coordinator to deliver training programs throughout the organization and to third parties to promote awareness and compliance with access and privacy legislation.
  • Work with the FOI Coordinator and Legal Counsel to improve templates and streamline the FOI process.
  • Support IO legal in other matters that may arise.
