Part of the Corporate Services team, the Communications Team works across divisions to drive awareness of, and engagement on, IO’s strategy and impact, support relationship development with key partners and stakeholders, and educate and engage colleagues on corporate initiatives.

The Senior Advisor, Communications is a member of the corporate communications team responsible for leading the development and execution of internal communications strategies that inform, engage and inspire IO employees. They will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with IO leaders and internal client departments, providing counsel on and executing appropriate communications approaches that link to business strategy. The Senior Advisor also supports broader corporate communications initiatives, including corporate reporting and the organizational awards strategy. 

What You Will Do:

  • Assesses, recommends and leads internal communications strategies within IO that link to business strategy and support and evolve the corporate culture and Employee Value Proposition (EVP).
  • Serves as trusted advisor to senior leaders and internal department clients to plan, design and deliver communications strategies.
  • Supports broader corporate communications efforts including internal news content, enterprise awards strategy and corporate reporting.
  • Develops plans, materials, speeches, messaging and executes events for employees in support of executives.
  • Provides oversight of IO’s intranet, the IOpener, and collaborates with teams to maintain content ensuring accuracy, relevance, employee connection and engagement.
  • Leverages data and insights to iterate and inform communications planning as appropriate.
  • Manages the execution of organizational hybrid format Town Halls, including logistics, suggesting agendas and presentation/remarks development.
  • Stays abreast of best practices in communications and culture development and continuously improves IO’s communications approaches.
  • Develops and tracks outcomes-based performance measures tied to employee communications objectives. 

What We Are Looking For:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in corporate communications, specifically internal communications and/or employee engagement and organizational behaviour.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, sound judgement and strong analytical skills.
  • A client-centric mindset with a demonstrated ability to build collegial relationships, collaborate with internal clients.
  • Executive presence and experience advising executive leadership.
  • A self-starter with an innate desire to innovate and grow, and a curiosity to embrace new challenges and opportunities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with SharePoint intranets.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

We offer a competitive salary range of $82,800 to $124,100 (P4 level), pay will align with skills, knowledge and experience of the candidate.
