Senior Advisor, Development - Community-Infrastructure Development Projects (Various Regular, Full-time, and Fixed-term Opportunities)
Infrastructure Ontario (IO), an Ontario crown corporation, provides a wide range of services to support the Ontario government’s initiative to modernize and maximize the value of public infrastructure and realty. Development is responsible for executing strategic land development opportunities that include the delivery of Transit-Oriented Communities (TOC), the use of surplus lands for social purpose outcomes (e.g., attainable housing, health care and long-term care), and the planning and delivery of landmark projects like the redevelopment of Ontario Place.
Position Purpose
As a Senior Advisor within Development, you will support the leadership team for Landmark Projects (LP), Social Purpose Projects (SPP), or Transit Oriented Communities (TOC), collaborating in a client facing capacity with internal and external consultants, key public and private partners, and subject matter experts to provide advisory services for key community infrastructure initiatives.
What You Will Do
- Specialize with LP, SPP, TOC-Subways or TOC-GO/LRT
- Collaborate with teams of internal and external consultants.
- Provide advisory services throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Propose solutions, present, and examine the status quo for continuous improvement.
- Enhance and manage partnerships with municipalities and interface with Provincial agencies, crown corporations, intergovernmental partnerships, and the public.
- Handle confidential, complex, and delicate materials.
- Manage the production of presentations and provide advice to help IO’s Development Team navigate policy resolutions and government approvals.
- Participate in commercial negotiations and prepare business cases, including financial and/or planning analysis.
- Manage master planning, secure entitlements, coordinate site due diligence and preparation works.
What We Are Looking For
The Development Enterprise Team may have various Regular, Full-time and Fixed-term (temporary or acting) assignments to fill for immediate and future vacancies. - Relevant professional learnings and competencies developed through education/experience in urban land use, real-estate planning, development, or infrastructure project delivery.
- Expertise in large-scale urban developments, revitalizations, land use planning initiatives, and extensive experience in real-estate deal environments, transactions, feasibility assessments and project management.
- Experience working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and coordinating external advisory services.
- Each vertical LP, SPP and TOC will target specialization according to their project work, and give priority consideration to those who have high-profile and complex real-estate transactions in one or more of the following areas:
- Landmark Projects (LP):
- Knowledge and appreciation of land use planning processes and development approvals.
- Experience in master planning large-scale, multi-partner, multi-phased revitalization projects.
- Professional planning designation(s) may be considered complementary.
- Social Purpose Projects (SPP):
- Experience in community development, housing solutions, long-term care facilities, healthcare revitalization, and recreational development.
- Experience in land development, not-for-profit housing, healthcare, and other community development initiatives.
- Transit Oriented Communities (TOC):
- Exposure to real-estate deal environments for mixed-use commercial/retail/residential densification.
- Project management of infrastructure development along major transit or transportation regions.
