Project Manager (Light Rail Transit)

Project Delivery manages large, complex public infrastructure projects using a variety of contracting models, notably the public-private partnership (P3) approach to procurement and delivery. The P3 model leverages private sector financing and expertise in building public infrastructure with the objective of delivering projects on schedule and within approved budgets. The current project pipeline is valued at more than $35 billion in estimated design and construction costs.
The role will focus on projects specifically related to transit infrastructure and will require working closely with Metrolinx and an integrated project team on delivery of the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension project.
To be successful in the role, the incumbent should bring sound commercial management skills, stakeholder management skills and experience finding positive solutions to complex issues with clients and diverse teams of project consultants and specialists. Strong presentation, consultation, negotiation, influencing and consensus building skills are also required.

What You Will Do:
- Support the management of the commercial implementation of major transit P3 projects.
- Support the implementation of tools and processes associated with commercial management of transit infrastructure projects in the implementation phase.
- Provide commercial support and liaise with the technical team and consultants, as required, on key issues throughout the design, and construction phases of a project.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation measures, specific to complex projects including commercial issues.
- Support the Director and Executives on the overall management of a major Project (or group of Projects) specifically by providing commercial advice on contracts and developing commercial strategy for successful project execution.
- Support the management claims and variations through effective analysis of supporting documents and conducting negotiations with contractors.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to colleagues such as Project Coordinators and Senior Project coordinators.
- Other duties and special initiatives as required to support Projects.
What We’re Looking For:
- Hands-on experience managing major complex infrastructure projects is required.
- Experience or education in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or other relevant discipline to the construction industry.
- Possession of a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is advantageous but not mandatory.
- PMP certification or in the process of acquiring is an asset.
- Strong business acumen and an understanding of dealing with project budgets, schedules, and technical requirements/issues associated with completing construction projects.
- Strong experience negotiating claims, scope changes and other compliance and contractual items on major social projects.
- Good understanding of building construction and systems, including understanding of the various contract delivery models (e.g. Build-Finance, Design-Build-Finance, Design-Build-Finance-Maintain, Progressive Design-Build etc.).
- Strong presentation skills, communication skills and ability to speak to audiences at the staff level in addition to senior executives.
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing stakeholder relationships.
- Experience collaborating with Municipalities, Cities, and Utility companies is considered an asset.

The hiring range for this position is $104,400 – $156,600, with a corresponding job level of PM3. The exact compensation will align based on the skills, knowledge and experience of the candidate.
