Content Development Assistant – Full Time, Temporary Contract (8 weeks)

Position Description: Reporting to the Communications Specialist, as the Content Development Assistant, you will work with the Communications and the Community and Donor Engagement team to create visual promotions and updates for the digital media library that will enhance Indwell’s mission.

Location: Hamilton, ON
Hours of Work: Full-time, 35 hours per week, as scheduled. Primarily weekdays although hours can change based on program needs. This position is a temporary contract, ending after 8 weeks. *Position length and hours subject to approval by Service Canada.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Curate stories from Indwell’s newsletters, annual reports, etc., to create engaging content for use in Indwell’s digital communications
- Organize, tag, and catalog photos and videos in Indwell’s digital assets library for easy access by Indwell staff
- Develop a bank of generic, yet impactful imagery for future use in print and digital materials
- Develop content creation guidelines for staff to capture quality photos and videos using their smartphones
- Document Indwell summer community gathering such as gardening, picnics, BBQs
- Gather materials (photos, videos, infographics) for fall/winter campaigns (annual report, year-end campaign, Giving Tuesday)
- Use video and photography to complement data-driven storytelling (e.g. visualizing Indwell’s impact through metrics and testimonials.)
- Other duties as assigned
What You Will Bring:
- University or college degree (or working towards) in Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Marketing or Digital Marketing
- Commitment to promoting and demonstrating the vision, mission, and values of Indwell within the workplace and community
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and with flexibility
- A responsibility and initiative
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- A creative and critical eye
- Strong organizational skills
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of and experience in photography and videography
- Digital content creation skills
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and digital media tools preferred
Canada Summer Jobs Eligibility Requirements:
- Be between the ages of 18-30 at start of employment
- Be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Be in possession of a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Be available to work for the duration of the contract
