Building Automation System Technician Team Leader

Job Summary:
The Building Automation System Technician Team Leader will oversee the day-to-day operations of technician staff, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and effectively while maintaining high standards of quality. This position involves coordinating the efforts of technician staff, managing resources, and facilitating communication between various departments to ensure that technical objectives align with organizational goals. The Technician Team Leader will foster a collaborative environment where innovative solutions can be developed to meet the challenges faced by the organization. Through their leadership, they contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and the professional growth of their team members, ultimately driving the success of projects and the satisfaction of clients and stakeholders.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of technical teams, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Provide technical supervision and assist in the creation of DDC controller programs and front-end database/graphics for all assigned projects.
- Implement and manage quality assurance protocols to maintain high standards of technical work and product output.
- Facilitate communication between technical staff and other departments, such as sales and customer service, to ensure project requirements are clearly understood and met.
- Enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all technical staff.
- Mentor and train new technical staff, providing guidance on company procedures and project-specific tasks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues that arise during project execution.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies or processes to improve productivity and reduce costs.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Programming, engineering, start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning, and servicing of commercial Building Automation System equipment.
- Tridium Niagara 4 TCP Certification.
- Distech Controls Applications & Controllers Certification.
- Siemens Desigo Building Automation Certification.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors or Associates degree in Science, Engineering, Technology, or related field required.
- At least 15 years’ experience in the Building Automation field.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to handle and lift normal tools of the trade for building automation and automatic temperature control installation and service work.
- Must be able to climb and/or work off of step ladders and extension ladders, following safe work practices and wearing required safety gear.
- Must be able to access building roofs to commission and service control equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Travel Requirements:
- Must be able to travel frequently to Customer sites throughout local territory.
- Overnight travel may be required.
Reporting Relationship:
- Will report directly to the Territory Control Manager.
