Find Furniture Bank (Find) is part of Homeward Trust Holding Company (HTHC) a not-for-profit organization that operates companies in support of the mission of ending homelessness.

 

Findis a social enterprise, operating in partnership with Homeward Trust Foundation (HTF) and housing-focused community agencies.  Find’s goals are to provide essential furnishings free of charge to individuals and families who are moving out of homelessness and to supply low-cost, quality furniture and housewares for sale to the public. 

 

Find’s creation has its roots in the realization that access to affordable furniture was a key component in allowing the homeless to be housed, and housing sustainability.

Position Summary

The Processing Lead is a full-time position, responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of all aspects of the processing including donation collections, material processing, personnel management, health and safety initiatives and loss control overview. You will oversee the efficient and effective flow of processing and/or distribution of goods and donations while promoting Find in a professional manner.

The Processing Lead will report directly to the Warehouse Supervisor/Assistant General Manager, and work in close collaboration with supporting departments.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the Warehouse Supervisor and the processing team to manage workflow balancing - - the division of responsibilities amongst employees on each shift including assignment of responsibilities and workstations.
  • Submitting staffing requests to Warehouse supervisor and/or senior management team.
  • Provides training/orientation to new staff and volunteers when necessary
  • Assist in the management of a team of 10-12 people that are engaged daily in the processing of furniture and household items.
  • Supervises the processing systems to ensure the effective and efficient flow of items from sorting, cleaning, testing, steam cleaning, research, and pricing to the retail floor area according to established criteria, policies, and procedure.
  • Maintains open communication with co-workers, and Warehouse supervisor regarding operational and staff issues.
  • Ensures the appropriate and timely recycling of items that cannot be used
  • Ensures the overall warehouse organization and cleanliness is maintained
  • Ensuring all areas remain presentable and safe for all customers and team members
  • Supervises all health & safety procedures and policies established by Find
  • Identify tools and equipment required to do processing, maintains an Inventory Log, and ensure that staff are properly trained on how to use the tools and equipment appropriately.
  • Identifies Learning Opportunities that are beneficial to staff and relevant to processing
  • Manage the donation door
  • Work closely with the Online store manager to process items for the store.
  • Hold daily, weekly, and monthly department meetings pass and receive information to department staff.
  • Inspect, approve, and sign off on disposal of damaged items or items deemed unusable for our purposes.
  • Work with Bissel personnel for donated items

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of High School or GED equivalent.
  • 3 - 5 years of applicable experience including the supervision of others.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office products including outlook, word, and excel.
  • Able to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to work 37.5 to 44 hours per week – Tuesday- Saturday, with the flexibility to adjust according to Business Requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on their feet.
  • Deliver amazing customer service by going above and beyond for all Find customers.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and engage fellow Team Members in contributing to Find’s mission & core purpose.
  • Maintain an open and honest attitude while making moral decisions.
  • Recognize the great efforts of fellow Team Members through genuine recognition activities.

  • Prioritize safety in all tasks, ensuring safety of self as well as fellow Team Members.
  • Must pass criminal record
  • Must be able to work with steel toe shoes/boots, be able to lift 50 lbs, and be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and reading comprehension skills as well.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office products including outlook, word, and excel.
  • Solid analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
