Your Impact at Empire 

Under the direction of the Director of Purchasing, the Purchasing Agent is responsible for material takeoffs for new plans and options as well as maintaining takeoffs for existing plans. The Purchasing Agent will assist in value engineering, plan pricing, review and evaluation of cost estimates.

This role is located at our Empire Colorado office in Colorado Springs, CO

 
What We Are Looking For: 

  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Business, Accounting, or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in the new home/residential construction industry; specifically within the purchasing or estimating function
  • Knowledge and experience in Builder Accounting and Purchasing software systems (NewStar, BuildPro, JD Edwards)
  • Knowledge of construction trades and building materials, thorough in plans reading, understanding and knowledge of the entire residential construction process

 
Bonus If You Have These Skills: 

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, Excel
  • Strong technical acumen in determining requirements for takeoffs based on plans

What You’ll Be Doing Each Day  

  • Accurately input contract pricing into accounting and purchasing software as well as audit data input to ensure accuracy of data
  • Assure all contract documents are executed and returned within prescribed time frames, process vendors and vendor contracts, track vendor contracts, and track vendor insurance
  • Qualify all proposals to ensure that bids are aligned and consistent and include all specifications, scopes, and details as well as create bid comparisons and spread bid numbers
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications and scope documents to prepare, analyze, and maintain through take offs with accurate quantities
  • Prepare and distribute bid packages for new products and projects and prepare project estimates (feasibilities) and assist in establishing proformas
  • Creatively source new products to help lower cost and improve quality/aesthetic appeal of production homes
  • Assist in development and updates for detailed scope of work for trades

Transparent Pay Structure

The anticipated compensation range for this position is $68,000-$85,000 annually. The salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of relevant job experience, years of experience within the required industry, education, work location, etc. Empire Communities is a multi-state employer and the salary ranges indicated herein may not reflect positions located in other states.
