Drilling Engineer

Harvest has an immediate opening for a Drilling Engineer, reporting to the Team Lead, Drilling & Completions. This is a permanent position based out of the Calgary Corporate Office.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement and maintain drilling programs to ensure job quality, safety, and cost;
• Generate drilling project AFEs
• Implement strategies to improve current drilling plans to continually refine drilling operations to contain costs;
• Responsible for managing correct procedures and maintaining a high degree of safety during drilling;
• Recommend and apply new technology in drilling
• Analyze and make recommendations for drilling problems;
• Maintain effective drilling plans by evaluating current programs;
• Achieve production objectives by contributing and making recommendations to strategic plans involving drilling;
• Maintain a safe work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures;
• Ensure department activities are in compliance with Harvest policies and government regulations;
• Perform and assume other duties and responsibilities as may be required at the direction of the drilling manager;
Qualifications:
• Required Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical or related engineering discipline.
• 7 years of industry experience with an E&P
• Field experience would be an asset
• Must have advanced knowledge of horizontal/multi-lateral wellbore design
• Advanced understanding of wellbore stability and its impact on casing design.
• Subject matter expertise in cementing and performance drilling required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience communicating in individual and group settings to multidisciplinary professionals
• Demonstrated ability to work productively in a team environment, both supporting other team members and contributing to the effectiveness and reliability of the team.
• Demonstrated commitment to behavioral based safety programs and ensuring incident and injury free working conditions.
