Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the human resources business partner will be responsible for supporting the managers in managing employee relations, succession planning and coaching their respective client groups. He/she will participate in all activities related to human resources management, with the aim of supporting a positive work climate for all groups of employees. He/she will play an important role in the retention of employees, as well as in the management of various files and in the participation of human resources projects.

 

RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Supports a diverse operational client group, in employee relations, performance management, engagement and succession management;
  • Acts as an expert advisor to managers in employee relations, participating in internal investigations and file resolutions;
  • Leads the performance management process, including talent assessment meetings, and follows up with managers as necessary;
  • Encourages managers to leverage employee participation in engagement surveys, and advises them on action plans to improve results;
  • Emphasizes manager autonomy and skills development by providing them with appropriate training and tools;
  • Analyzes and monitors key people metrics and develops action plans to improve talent development and retention;
  • Participates in the development of human resource policies, programs or processes;
  • Participates in the integration of new employees, as required;
  • Conduct exit interviews, as required;
  • Participates, when required, in the recruitment process;
  • Supports employees and managers in obtaining and renewing work permits, as required;
  • Monitors and ensure understanding of and compliance with provincial legislation and corporate human resources policies and procedures;
  • Works closely with the Payroll/Benefits department to ensure compliance with various processes;
  • Works in a team with other members of human resources and acts as a back-up to the Human Resources Business Partner when required;
  • Travels according to business needs (bi-weekly trip to Ottawa);
  • Performs all other tasks required for the smooth operation of the human resources department.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, industrial relations or related field;
  • Possess a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years' experience in human resources, including significant experience in labour relations;
  • Experience in the restaurant or hotel industry (an asset);
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Quebec and Ontario employment laws and HR best practices;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, in French and English, to collaborate with our colleagues in Ontario;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Results-oriented and customer-focused;
  • Ability to solve complex problems;
  • Team players with a positive attitude;
  • Ability to influence at all levels;
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
