Acrobatics Camp Counsellor (Seasonal - Summer)
The Granite Club is looking for a Acrobatics Camp Counsellor is responsible for assisting the Camp Leader in engaging acrobatic activities, ensuring camper safety, and fostering a supportive and fun environment. This role requires experience in gymnastics, acrobatics, dance, or a related movement discipline, along with the ability to inspire and motivate campers of all skill levels. The ideal candidate will assist with structured instruction, promote teamwork, and contribute to an overall positive camp experience.

Primary Responsibilities
Acrobatics Camp Counsellor
- Lead engaging acrobatics activities, including tumbling and movement exercises, while teaching proper techniques for balance, flexibility, strength, and coordination.
- Adapt lessons to different skill levels and age groups, ensuring a structured, encouraging, and fun learning environment.
- Encourage creativity and confidence through movement-based challenges, performances, and teamwork-focused exercises.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ideal candidates will be able to:
- Commitment & Punctuality: Be available to work for all nine weeks of summer camp and arrive on time for each shift, ensuring all materials are prepared 15 minutes before camp starts.
- Camper Check-In & Safety: Assist with overseeing sign-in and out procedures ensuring a safe and organized check-in and check-out process.
- Professionalism & Conduct: Maintain a high level of professionalism, motivation, and energy throughout the day while modeling sportsmanship, manners, and respectfulness for campers.
- Instruction & Program Delivery: Learn and apply best practices for teaching camp activities, including working with campers with special needs, using inclusive teaching methods, and managing general camp operations.
- Camper Supervision & Safety: Assist with taking attendance before and after transitions, monitor campers to ensure compliance with camp rules, prevent accidents, and respond appropriately to incidents by reporting and recording details.
- Collaboration & Training: Participate in staff meetings and attend mandatory training sessions before the start of the camp. Work with fellow counsellors to plan and coordinate camp events and create age-appropriate weekly program plans for daily implementation.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12
- Valid CPR & Emergency First Aid Required.
- Prior experience as an acrobatics instructor, coach, or performer is preferred.
- Experience working with children and youth in an instructional or camp setting.
- Knowledge of progressive skill development, proper technique, and injury prevention.
- Certification in gymnastics coaching, acrobatics, or a related field is an asset
- Knowledge of safety protocols and risk management in acrobatics training.
- Experience working with preschool-aged children would be considered an asset.
- Previous experience as a camp counsellor is an asset.
- Must be available for the full duration of the 9-week camp program and holidays.
