Master 310T Truck Diagnostic Technician

We are looking for a Master Class 310T Diagnostic Technician who can diagnose a wide variety of equipment and who thrives on mentoring some of the industry’s best and brightest technicians.
The primary responsibility of the position is to perform and oversee safe, quality repairs while mentoring and guiding our apprentices and technicians. Utilizing their vast experience and knowledge in the industry the Expert Class Diagnostic Technicians will contribute to our continuous process improvement to better team and work environment.
Service Centre
- Work with Standard Work procedures to identify areas for improvement
- Ensure all work being performed is done following healthy and safety guidelines
- Ability to diagnose our customers most challenging technical issues, including aftertreatment systems, engine electrical diagnostics, ABS and TCS diagnostics
- Ensure all equipment is in safe working condition and advise Service Manager of any tools or equipment that require vendor repair or replacement
- Escalate safety concerns to the Service Manager immediately
- Perform engine diagnosis repair on a variety of engines (Volvo/Mack, Cummins, X-15, ISL, PX Series, etc.)
- Maintain open communication with the Foreman through continuous updates and at team huddles
- Monitor jobs to avoid any problems or delays ahead of time
- Monitor, coach and train technicians on standards, productivity and quality of work
- Identify Technician skill levels to gauge supervision intervals
- Monitor job times to completion targets and communicate to Technicians
- Involve Parts Planner immediately in any parts required
- Track and repair tools and equipment that is out of service
- Perform all types of repairs and maintenance to transportation equipment
- Perform all tasks to best practices timelines
- Expertise in after treatment systems, Mitchell One Diagrams/Navigating, Drivetrain/Powertrain (Allison 3000/4000, M-Drive, I-Drive)
- Provide necessary hand tools for job completion
- Perform welding, including arc, MIG, Aluminum, Steel, air arc, plasma cutting and acetylene cutting
- Perform all types of brake, suspension, air system, electrical and body repairs
- Vast knowledge and experience with diagnosing and repairing Air systems, suspension, hubs and axles, A/C and heating systems, instruments and auxiliary equipment
- Perform government safety inspections
- Ensure all parts and consumables being used are recorded on the work order at time of use
- Always keep work area in standard operating condition, including tools stored in standard locations
- Occasional road service calls for emergency service
- Promote a safe work environment, always follow safety standards and ensure timely reporting of any Health and Safety issues
- Other work as may be defined
Education and Training
- Grade 12 or equivalent with technical training
- Valid 310T Truck & Coach certification
- 5 years' experience as a licensed 310T Technician
- Certification in 2 of the following required: Cummin Engines, Mack/Volvo Engines or Paccar Engines
- Certification in After Treatment Diagnostics Proficiency: Cummins or Mack/Volvo
- ODP Certification
Skills and Experience
- Certified to perform government inspections: trucks, trailers, tankers
- Able to use large tools
- Experts in truck diagnostic analysis and resolution
- Personal leadership skills
- Experience in a supervisory or managerial role would be an asset
- Willingness and desire to coach and mentor others
- Commitment to personal safety and safety of coworkers.
- Good written and oral communication
- Valid provincial driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
- A cooperative team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Strong technical skills related to transportation equipment
- Fluent in reading and writing in English
