Job Overview

As the Plant Manager you will be responsible to develop, drive and continuously improve the effective implementation of the site strategies for the business to achieve agreed upon sales, profit, customer service and personal targets in alignment with the Company Fiscal Business Plan.

Location: 5780 Hwy 7, Woodbridge, ON L4L 2Z9

Salary range: $165,000 - $170,000 annual ($84.62 - $87.18 hourly) This role is permanent full-time with a standard 37.5-hour work week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and secure approval for the annual site goals and operating plan by ensuring that production and other department strategies are in alignment with the overall company strategy and direction
  • Communicate budget, operating plan and objectives with plant stakeholders
  • Execute annual business plan with site leadership team
  • Oversee reporting of the plant’s daily, weekly and monthly KPIs
  • Meet regularly with the plant leadership team to review departmental performance against targets
  • Provide weekly and monthly operational updates to key stakeholders
  • Ensure gaps to performance metrics or operating plans are addressed through corrective actions
  • Manage plant operations from the receipt of raw materials through processing and shipment to our distribution centers or pack-out facilities
  • Ensure compliance to company and plant policies and procedures
  • Provide leadership and support of our Health & Safety and Food Safety and Quality programs
  • Accountable for the effectiveness of the JHSC. Participates in JHSC meetings, ensures action and resources are in place to address issues and participates in plant audits
  • Participates as a member of the Food Safety / HACCP team and is responsible for designating a backup during absence
  • Contribute to the development of processes, procedures and systems within the site, adopting a continuous improvement mindset to increase efficiency and consistency while reducing cost
  • Lead, coach and develop plant employees
  • Responsible to manage the disciplines of production, sanitation and maintenance, with indirect leadership over quality, supply chain and engineering, in the manufacturing of quality and safe products
  • Ensure plant has sufficient resources with the right skills and competencies to meet plant and department objectives
  • Provide feedback including conducting formal evaluations
  • Oversee site talent development and succession planning program
  • Support other corporate initiatives and functional strategies & objectives
  • Support growth through participating in new product and innovation programs; ensuring timely and quality execution
  • Accountable for the execution of capital projects
  • Accountable for the maintenance and cleanliness of assets in the facility

Preferred Skills

  • Completion of a university degree in Engineering, Business or Science
  • 5+ years’ previous Plant Manager/Production Manager and/or other Manufacturing leadership experience within consumer goods, pharmaceutical or automotive industry
  • 5+ years’ previous experience managing in a high-speed, automated manufacturing operation
  • 10+ years’ previous experience in the Food Manufacturing industry
  • 10+ years’ previous experience implementing and leading execution of HSE and QA standards in a multinational environment in a CPG
  • 5+ years’ previous experience implementing and leading continuous improvement projects and TPM/6-sigma projects
  • Good understanding of supply chain and internal logistics processes
