Reporting to the Plant Manager and Head of GDAmericas Quality, the Quality Manager is accountable for the development, implementation and effectiveness of a production facility-based quality management system that minimizes quality costs, supports organizational strategy, and meets customer expectations.

 

The successful candidate will be hands-on, highly organized, action oriented, technically competent, and capable of lone project completion as well as working with and influencing customers, colleagues, and suppliers.  They will have a background that includes experience with world class quality assurance systems, root cause analysis and preventive action implementation. The successful applicant will have demonstrated competence in both development of effective systems as well as hands on execution.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Design and implementation of a facility QMS which supports organizational strategy and aligns with peer facilities. A key aspect of this role includes the  development and execution or management of;
    • Suitable factory control plans
    • Supplier evaluation and monitoring processes
    • Process output monitoring
    • Corrective and Preventive Action systems
    • Customer and Product use analysis for product and process improvement
    • Surveillance testing program
    • Audit programs
    • Advanced Quality Planning/Approvals for new products/supply change
  • Development of, and analysis of, quality data to initiate and manage full resolution to issues contributing to quality costs/risks
  • Product failure analysis, tracking, resolution and reporting; including analysis of internal failures and customer failures
  • Resolution of escalated customer and field product performance concerns
  • Preparation of Failure Analysis Reports and other required communications for customers, internal use, and regulatory body reporting requirements
  • Providing support to Sales, Customer Service, and Product Management in meeting specific customer requirements with respect to Quality Assurance testing, documentation and systems
  • Design Engineering testing, process and product evaluation support
  • Reporting to various organizational levels with respect to the performance of the Quality System and in identifying new or changing risks

 

Position Requirements

  • A degree or diploma in electrical, electronic, or mechanical engineering/engineering technology or equivalent and relevant experience in electrical, mechanical, and/or appliance related manufacturing facilities
  • A hands-on leader with a proven ability to champion Quality objectives and outcomes
  • CQE, CQM designation, or similar experience
  • A strong ability to collect, organize, summarize, prioritize, and report information
  • Experience implementing and/or auditing world class quality assurance systems
  • Proven ability to positively influence stakeholders inside and outside the organization
  • Experience driving root cause analysis and preventive action implementation
  • A self starter who is capable of working independently and facilitating actions from many internal and external agents
  • Experience with formal product certification through UL, CSA or equivalent would be an asset
  • This position may involve some travel
