Role Summary

The main responsibility of the Retail Attendant is to provide luxury customer service and help customers identify and purchase products they desire. They will generate sales, advise customers on the use and care of merchandise and provide advice concerning specialized products or services. This role will also assist with receiving, stocking and facing of products.

 

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and acknowledge each guest with a smile, eye contact and a friendly verbal greeting using the guests’ names when possible
  • Build trustful and dependable relationships with customers
  • Assist customers to find the goods and products they are looking for or an alternate
  • Responsible for processing cash and card payments and initiating customer refunds
  • Stock and face products per standards, replace used stock, rotate current stock and ensure satisfactory inventory levels
  • Responsible for selling and reconciling lottery products
  • Responsible for prepping, packaging and labelling any prepared food items
  • Responsible for pricing products and ensuring all merchandise is priced
  • Answer customer questions, providing advice and guidance on product selections
  • Utilize suggestive selling and up-selling techniques in a subtle and appropriate manner
  • Complete courtesy carry-outs for customers
  • Provide directions for customers based on a thorough knowledge of item locations in the store
  • Report discrepancies and concerns to the leadership team
  • Keep retail outlet tidy and clean, including sweeping and mopping
  • Responsible for handling customer complaints
  • Accountable for opening and closing store duties
  • Balance cash floats with receipts
  • Assist with receiving and storing the delivery of large amounts of stock
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service
  • Maintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards
  • Keep up to date with product information and special promotions
  • Maintain displays and product levels
  • Accurately describe product features and benefits
  • Work in partnership with other associates to maximize store sales and in-store presence
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
  • Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

  • 1-2 year’s work experience in a retail setting
  • Experience in a customer service position an asset
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Must be computer literate. Preferred candidate will have previous experience with point of sale software, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be extremely responsible with integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion

 

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling
