You will prepare and analyze financial reports to uncover trends and identify exciting opportunities for improvement, while developing cutting-edge financial models to evaluate business performance and enhance cost efficiencies. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will analyze market trends and benchmark against competitors, ensuring we stay ahead of the curve. 

Your attention to detail will be crucial as you assist in month-end close processes to guarantee precise financial reporting. You will work closely with department heads to provide valuable financial insights that empower them to achieve their targets, and collaborate with project management teams to deliver insightful financial analysis for various projects, identifying areas for improvement in costing models. 

In this role, you will proactively tackle project-related challenges and support the accounting team in enhancing processes for greater efficiency. You will also take charge of developing financial procedures, participate in year-end audit preparations, and respond to inquiries regarding financial transactions with confidence.

Position Details: 

  • Permanent, Full-Time
  • Woodstock, Ontario
  • Hybrid work model
  • Hours of work:
    • Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm

Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting to support business objectives
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop financial models to assess business performance, profitability, and cost efficiencies
  • Support strategic initiatives by analyzing market trends, competitive benchmarks, and industry best practices
  • Assist in month-end close processes, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting
  • Partner with department leaders to provide financial insights and decision-making support
  • Prepare and present periodic financial reports and dashboards to assist departments in meeting targets
  • Collaborate with project management teams to provide financial analysis and support for various projects
  • Identify areas for improvement in costing models and standardization of products
  • Proactively identify and resolve problems or obstacles within projects
  • Support other members of the accounting team to continuously improve processes and procedures
  • Assist in the preparation of month-end and year-end reporting packages, including account reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Lead or support in the development and formalization of financial procedures and processes
  • Participate in year-end audit preparation and respond to inquiries related to financial transactions

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial analysis or accounting
  • CPA designation or candidate status is an asset
  • Familiarity with financial software (e.g., Sage 300) is an asset

Required Skills & Abilities: 

  • Sound critical and analytical thinking, problem-solving, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high level of accuracy, with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience in financial modeling
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to all levels of management Self-motivated and proactive, capable of working independently with limited supervision
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent teamwork and team building skills
  • Able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
  • Highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills
