About the Position:
Reporting to the Senior Technical Writer and Content Creator, we are looking for a strong technical writer to create compelling content for various stakeholders including the general public, the financial advisor community and sophisticated institutional investors. They will do this through their knowledge of Canadian real estate, investing and finance and will be able to create compelling content through research as well as by collaborating with various senior executives within the organization. Our ideal candidate would be able to source material through their own experience and research as well as by working directly with key departments within the company. They would be skilled at developing content that is both educational and motivational and highlights Equiton’s thought leadership in real estate, finance and investing.
Successful candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience in writing in the topics of real estate and investing and be available to work at the company's head office in Burlington, ON.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
- Support the development of multi-platform, multi-format technical and thought leadership content including annual and quarterly reports, articles, educational guides, internal training documents, industry handouts and one-pagers, newsletters/emails, articles in financial and real estate industry publications, press releases, social media posts, and other communications.
- Produce consistent and error-free written content that adheres to the company’s high standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders across key departments of the company and its subsidiaries to drive thought leadership and the company’s unique perspectives.
- Repurpose content to efficiently deliver engagement across target platforms and reach a variety of audiences.
- Monitor real estate and investing industry trends, reports, and research to formulate well-supported analysis and proactively drive content ideation that highlights the company’s strengths and values.
- Play a key role in the continued evolution of the company’s content channels and strategy.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- A minimum of five years’ experience of writing with a focus on creating content for digital platforms in the fields of real estate, business journalism, finance and/or investing.
- Degree in journalism, communications, or relevant field.
- Ability to tailor messages to diverse target markets and effectively distill advanced industry concepts into content that is appropriate for different audiences ranging from new investors to sophisticated institutional investors.
- Equally skilled at writing short, concise copy and deeply reported articles.
- Effective at handling high volumes of timely content with accuracy.
- Strong news sense and proven ability to guide content creation from strategy and ideation through to execution and distribution.
- A deep understanding of digital content best practices, including search engine optimization (SEO), to achieve desired outcomes such as increased engagement and earned media.
- Strong work ethic and team player. Trustworthy, capable, reliable. Experience working in fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Anticipatory, proactive, and responsive – thinks ahead and plans accordingly with minimal guidance.
Education, Qualifications & Experience:
- Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and/or other relevant qualifications
- Newsroom, media or agency experience
